Our design consultant was great! She took the time to really help me design our space, and offered suggestions where needed. The issues started when the work was done. Considering the cost and reputation of California Closets, we expected more. We have/had what appears to be scrap pieces, uneven molding, separating molding, cracks, scrapes, and splits, as well as holes in our file cabinets from where the installer made mistakes. And, even though we were on schedule since early February 2021, our cabinet pulls were not available during installation on 17 May 2021. That was fine as they gave us temporary pulls, but the problem was the installer didnt have the hardware to install the last temporary pull, so we had to look at an empty hole in our build for the longest time. While most of these things were addressed and fixed over a month later on 23 June 2021, I can already tell well have to make at least one warranty call... Additionally, the scheduling department can use some improvement. It took forever to get a response on when our punch list items would be complete. No return phone calls...no return emails in a timely manner. It wasnt until I asked my design consultant for someone I could talk to that was above the scheduler that I got an answer. And from that point on, Im almost sure my cell number was flagged as do not answer because when I did call to get an approximate arrival time for our punch list completion, no one returned a call to the voicemail I left. When I called two hours later, no answer again. But then when I called immediately back with my husbands cell, I miraculously got an answer. Very unprofessional...While we do love our build...flaws and all, and the design consultant was awesome, I gave 3 stars because at the end of the day the customer service was not great. And to us, customer service is everything. Especially when you make a huge investment like this. Well more than likely never work with California Closets again, unfortunately.

I am an interior designer and had two closets designed for a client and ordered these in December 2020. It is august of 2021 and the closet still is not done. The rep Mariana we worked it was beyond incompetent and unprofessional, not to mention entitled and very cold and impersonal. We paid over $10000 for these very small closets and they have done nothing but provide an untimely, faulty design, shotty workmanship and poor overall customer service- from the rep, to the installers, to the scheduling manager. It’s all been a horrible experience. We have tried to escalate the situation to management, just to find them over stretched , and though polite for a change, have gotten zero done to help our situation. Still hoping to wrap this up within the year but who knows. Stay far far away.

Honestly,I am so pleased with our experience with the staff at California Closet. After our visiting the store in Austin and meeting with Maria, she was very professional and knowledgeable when assisting our murphy bed design. As for the delivery, I was not at home, and I did not get their names. However, my husband stated that the delivery was efficient, smooth, and both guys were friendly and professional. Ms. Jean contacted us after the install for our feedback. Overall, I am pleased with our purchase, but I failed to think about lighting on the nightstands. Ms. Jean t informed me that she would forward the contact information of an electrician who could resolve the lighting issue. My only complaint would be the opening between the top of the bed and the wall unit; there is no back support, and the pillows easily fall through onto the floor.

I love my office but didn’t enjoy my experience with the ‘designer’ or company at all. I was assigned Mariana but my husband and I designed our own office with some tips from her. The original design we were given looked like a vets office. Whatever, my real gripe is that after voicing a complaint the designer and company just cut off contact. At least tell me you think I suck and don’t want to replace my shelf or fix the design we agreed on. If you go with them it’s not too expensive and turns out pretty nice but you’ll get the bare minimum effort. I expected better because of the name.

I have never done an online review. Not a great experience. The designer was pleasant and knowledgable, but struggled in returning phone calls, texts, and answering questions. Anything related to pricing was wrapped in mystery. We told the company, that our number one criteria for picking a company was being easy to work with. They are not easy to work with; calls not returned, texts not returned, questions not responded to, zero follow-up. If they were hard to work with before signing the contract, we were fearful of them becoming invisible if we encountered any problems during the job. Buyer beware.

We live in a condo and it doesnt offer much storage. We also didnt utilize the wall where our dining room table was placed. So we decided, with Maggies help, to design a wall to wall storage unit. We started with a seat with hooks above to hang our backpacks. Under seat is a shoe rack. Above the hooks is where I store my records, tapes and cds. Next to that we have a coat closest for a few of our jackets we use most and below that is a laundry shoot. I throw my kitchen towels and my socks when I take my shoes off after working out. Next to that is an art box and below that is my record player. Below that os the pull out table we use for either to eat on or to use as my office desk. Below that is a stoarge draw and below that is a filing draw. Next to that is our extra pantry to store our bulk items and below that is our doggy sleep area. We call it Kevins corner. And finally they added a hook on the wall for Kevins leash. We absolutely love and will use California Closest again. We highly recommend them. High quality, professional work!

Installed office space in a living room with vaulted ceiling. The tech (Billy) was professional, helpful and adroit at solving problems. First class. The company conducted itself in a highly ethical and professional manner and delivered on their promises. It is pricier than most, so good value is hard to determine, but I would definitely consider it a worthwhile value. I am very pleased with the finished results, could not be happier. Many thanks to all involved. Keep up the great business practice.

Catherine came to our house to work with us on cabinets for our garage. She was incredible to work with! She was able to show us exactly how the cabinets would look on her tablet after about 10 minutes, and she was very patient with our changes.I should point out that 2 other Garage Cabinet makers we got quotes from could only offer us standard sizes that would have not made the best use of our space.Great experience!

One of the worst experiences of our life. I would advise anyone doing business with this franchise to have a lawyer review and rewrite the contract before signing up. Our brand new never lived in home was flooded by them during the installation of their products and their insurance company was not very accommodating.

We used California Closets to build custom built-in shelves and a desk for a home office. The consultation was great, and the software allowed us to see exactly how our design would look in our room. Our designer, Maria, was so knowledgeable and was able to give us exactly what we were looking for. She was also mindful of our budget, and was able to offer a lot of guidance. Installation was very professional, and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. The whole room is totally transformed, and is now very functional for my work-from-home husband. We intend to schedule another consultation for our laundry room and entry way closer soon!

Nope. Do not expect professional customer service. After trying to submit an inquiry online (with my name address, and a description of the project), the scheduling tool would not allow me to make an appointment. I clicked have someone call me instead. This was a Wednesday. I immediately received rapid fire text messages, asking me for my address (which made me uncomfortable), and also several phone calls, and two emails also asking me for information I had already submitted. I expressed frustration with the aggressive pursuit (from Cassandra, Jean and Clara) and concern that the left hand has no idea what the right hand was doing, but i again provided my address and a description of the project via email. I asked for an appointment for about 10 days later. Jean Tracy responded that she would book it, but she again, needed my address and a description of the project. i did not hear back. Over the weekend I received voicemails from Cassandra and Clara to follow up on booking the appointment (that I believed had been booked). When I returned their phone calls, I left a message (again, providing my name, phone number, address, and a description of the project). Jean Tracy returned my call. she, AGAIN asked me for my address and a description of the project. I again expressed frustration that I had left that information in the voice mail i left earlier today, AS WELL AS via email to her on Friday, AND had provided it on the website last Wednesday. Jean Tracy then presumably reviewed notes and my email expressing concern, and said, honey, if you arent comfortable with our level of service why dont you find another closet company. and THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Thats at least $10,000 for a closet with a potential of way more than that for the mud room that Jean Tracy lost for California closets. They obviously need the work given the number of people they have chasing potential clients. ill pay twice that amount to any other closet company, but Jean Tracy and the Austin/SA franchise will never see a dime from me.

We hired California Closets to design and install a custom master closet In our new home. It is perfect! Sue Bassett the designer and Robert Gray the installer were very professional and on time. High quality with soft closing drawers and looks great. It was exactly what we envisioned. Highly recommend them!

We had Sue come out to our new home and help us with the design of our closets and laundry room. She had previously helped us in our home years ago. She listened very well to what we wanted in terms of usage and storage and also what our budget was. She designed everything to our liking and then the installers were on time and very precise. Definitely recommended their services and high quality products.

California Closets has been helping my homes for the past 30 years. My personal home master closets, my daughters remodel closet and bathroom, a linen storage closet, etc. We have always trusted their work and service. I also use them for my high end Custom Homes that we build. They are easy to design with and stand by their work. I will use them again on my upcoming remodel next year.

My experience with California Closets was top notch. After submitting a request online, I was promptly reached out to to set-up a consultation. Aaron S, my consultant, was phenomenal. Incredibly professional and made the whole experience fun. I opted to have Aaron come to my house (as opposed to a virtual meet) and all safety precautions were followed. He even managed to keep a positive attitude while my A/C was broken in triple digit heat. :) Aaron listened to my ideas and needs, and worked with me to get the design to a price point I was happy with.Once confirmed, an installation appointment was set up. CC even proactively reached out to fit me in earlier when another spot opened up. Much appreciated since I was so anxious to have a shiny new wine bar in my house. Can you blame me?!The installer was great. On time, efficient, professional and friendly. I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product. I recently bought a 2 yr old home that came with a large Cal closet. It was missing brackets for 2 shelf rods so I called for info on ordering those pieces. The woman I spoke with was friendly, polite, helpful. The brackets were at the Domain store and I would need to go pick them up and price was reasonable. The woman in the store was a whole different story. Frankly I felt profiled for looking either hispanic or not wealthy. Her attitude was incredibly snooty as she explained to me that I had inherited the closet and they certainly dont sell or even have the brackets there. I insisted as I had been told differently. She looked in one drawer for giggles as she said and didnt see anything. I continued to insist politely but directly. She finally called her store manager and the brackets were in the drawer she had opened. Being treated to this attitude and having to prove I spoke with a certain individual on the phone then listen to her tell me that person was new and didnt know anything made me swear I would never walk in that store again. My hispanic looking brother was with me and hes an engineer so his assessment of product versus price was another matter. Im giving 3 stars because of the woman on the phone and the manager. I also like the closet. In a way, I feel sorry for the woman I encountered as shes obviously out of her element and doesnt understand you cant so easily judge wealth when it walks in a store at the Domain.

OK so anyone who knows me knows I have extremely high expectations when it comes to customer service. I have to say California Closets here in Austin has surpassed them for me. The installer arrived on time, installed in 4 hours (that included cleaning up), our designer stopped by to check on everything and the owner of the company called to make sure everything went well and if there was anything they could do to make me happier. Oh and my closet looks AMAZING!!!!! Wow great job California Closets!!!!Please dont listen to all the Yelp reviews. I am seriously one happy lady!!!!

I walked into the storefront and these people acted like they were burdened by my business. Extremely unprofessional. Whoever runs the Domain Storefront needs an evaluation, the staff here acted snobby, Im assuming because I wasnt exactly wearing Versace. This is my biggest pet peeve in business, if youre not going to play nice, please just quit your job.

It amazed me how fast Shanna measured my practically non-functioning master bedroom closet and then designed something functional on her computer. She was also very accommodating to what my needs were.

You can parse this as you wish, but the local California Closets truck ran a stop sign in Circle C right in front of me, I had to follow that box van for a few miles. Not very smart, with the name of the company in two foot high letter on the side of a truck.
