Love the concept: independent library with history. But prices are kind of high (and there is no used book section) and the selection in the field I looked at (astrology) didn’t impress me with good titles / authors. I cannot talk for the other sections; the place seems so big that it must have a bit of all. I just saw a lot of overpriced Frieda Kahlo’s socks and varied stickers and stationary & the kind that I am not so interested in when I go look for BOOKS. In any case, I am grateful this place exists - I wish there were more independent bookstores like this around.

We visited book people this morning and we were exited to find the signed copy book of the new release of Jonathan Franzen, actually the cashier told us the books got to the store just yesterday, so hurry up and get your signed copy before is gone!! This store is independent and thats one of the reason we loved to shop with them! They have an extended selection of great books and more like purses, soap, herbs, Chakra cards, palo santo among others. It is a quiet book store with helpful and friendly staff, love the organization of each section and how well detailed information each shelf has for the books in the sections. I always will be back to this fabulous place!

They deserve more stars from me because they helped me save $$$ by purchasing my books from Amazon.Don’t buy a coffee there because you won’t even be able to drink it. Their draconian covid rules ruin the experience and they warn you as you go in the bookstore that you only have 30minutes to browse. It’s laughable. An employee FOLLOWED me in the store because I was drinking my coffee which required me to remove my mask. And I’m vaccinated!I used their resources to find the books I wanted and just ordered them from Amazon before I left the store. Go to Barnes and Noble. They are struggling too. I know they are a chain store but they are always KIND to us!!!

Book People rejoice! Literally.Nooks and crannies abound across two floors of perfectly arranged sections. Each shelf has recommended books with short descriptions underneath. Along with displays and shelves of high-end collectibles, jewelery, art, crystals, mugs, stickers and more. And each area often corresponds with the novelties found inside.Book People tastefully embodies Austins highest vibes: forward aiming and thinking, open to the new, queer, the uncommon and the weird. Grab a friend, peruse the shelves, sit in a corner and settle in for a time.

I finally found my people!! I love this bookstore, its a just right kind of place. Ive been to many bookstores and, while I love them all, they didnt have the perfect combinations this one has: lots of books and cool book stuff WITH lots of space and cool nooks and seat stools everywhere youd need one...to either look on a low shelf, step up to a high shelf, or sit for a moment and read. Or, maybe, just a place to sit and look over what you have in your basket to decide what you want to add to it (which is what I did). They have some really unique gifts and a nice, friendly, helpful staff. And did I mention its an independent bookstore? Yes, you have to love, respect, and admire that. :)

Love this bookstore. I really appreciate how books are not only located in one section. For example, a book that could be considered Science, but also Astronomy would be featured in both sections. A nice touch.I appreciated the store staff pick narratives featured on cards hanging off of the book stacks. Some very humorous, others very insightful. I always read them and it draws me to explore subjects I normally would not. This store has more diverse and deep selection of books that a standard Barnes & Noble. I can find new, but also well established books on different subjects. Some very obscure books can also be found. A nice surprise. Often, I drive downtown just to go here.

Quite possibly the greatest place on the planet. Yes, they have COVID protocols in place, but they tell you before you walk in what to expect: Bathrooms closed, coffee shop to go only, masks on, 30 minutes time limit. BUT, the best selection of books and bibliophile gifts for you or someone else EVER. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a plethora of recommendations for every genre written on cards on shelves. I could have stayed all day (we ended up there for an hour, maybe a little longer). If you hunt for good bookstores, do not miss this one.

My favorite thing about Book People is all the staff recommendations scattered throughout the store. I went in for a few summer reads and ended up with two bags full of books I hadn’t heard of before. As I talked to some staff, they were full of advice and thoughts about both new releases and genre classics. With May being AAPI History Month, there were many featured AAPI authors who I hadn’t been aware of and I am grateful for the recommendations. A friend recommended this place to me and I honestly had no clue it was there. I work downtown and have been to the WholeFoods across the street a dozen times but this is the first time I stopped in. I can say I was pleasantly surprised. Due to Covid they have a limited number of people they allow in the store at a time, which, lets be honest as book people going to Book People, we kinda want the whole place to ourselves 🤣 . Once in the staff was super friendly and very helpful. Spent about 20 min wandering around but I could have spent hours there. Problem with places like this is they have what you want... so you end up with a towering stack of books in your arms and no regrets. Cashier was fun and excited about my purchases (Gideon the 9th, which we both rambled on about) which made me even more excited. Excellent place, excellent staff, and excellent experience. Will be back. 10/10
