I never thought I would say this about a Bears fan but the guy working there was one and was super kind and honest. I dropped off my car because something was wrong with the tires. Apparently the people who changed my tires forgot to do something that is common knowledge. Mr Bears fan didnt charge me (a Packers fan) and I was super grateful. Hes definitely my new mechanic.

I dont know how long Tony and the Auto Stoppe have been on Burnet road, but this place feels like a throwback to the very best Austin has to offer. Over the years, Ive gotten a wide variety of repair and performance work completed on multiple vehicles here. 100% of the time, Tony will always shoot you straight, never try to up-sell you on anything you dont need, and always has the best prices. The best part is theres no trade-off.... you get a great deal AND great service. Always completed timely and professionally. Could not say enough great things about this place. I recommend this place to my closest family and friends.

Im new to Austin and found Auto Stoppe through a google search and I’m so glad I did! My brake light was stuck on, and they got me in quickly and charged 42$ - cheaper than other quotes I’d received for the problem. They gave great customer service, and got the problem fixed in less time than they had said it’d take (it was about 15 mins). I’ll be coming back!

With my luck, I had a tire blow out on a brand 2016 Honda Civic with only 3,000 miles on it. I called around town and every other shop I called told me that I would need to buy two tires, even though my vehicle already has practically new tires, excluding the blown out one. After getting nowhere with other shops who kept trying to up-sell me I went on Tire Rack found the matching tire and looked at the list of places to ship it to. Auto Stoppe was the highest rated and conveniently the closest. With that, I ordered the tire and crossed my fingers.First thing the following morning (Monday) Auto Stoppe called me and let me know what time they usually get their deliveries and that I could drop my car off anytime between now and then.Awesome!I opted to drop my car off Monday evening and received a call by noon Tuesday that the tire was successfully installed on my vehicle and was ready be picked up. According to UPS tracking and the time I received the call for pick up, the tire was delivered and installed within an hour. The guys even did a complimentary inspection on the rest of my vehicle to make sure it was good to drive after installation. After all was said and done (excluding the price of the tire from Tire Rack) I paid $29 for super fast service. They didnt suggest any other services and never once tried to sell me anything that I didnt ask for.As such, I strongly recommended Auto Stoppe for being an honest business that is easy to work with! It is definitely going to be my new go-to shop!

I have the very best blind luck! I needed new tires & a place within walking distance. I found Auto Stoppe on the internet and gave them a call. The tires were there within a couple of hours & waiting on me, just like they promised. And FAST! I had barely gotten home before my car was ready, I was pretty impressed. I know my project car needs more work but I got absolutely no pressure or scare-tactics trying to up-sell me. (I’m serious Ladies!)I soon realized they are a Full-Service shop totally capable of any & all the repairs I need. Tony quoted other work I need and was extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Auto Stoppe for Fast, knowledgeable, Honest, quality work at a reasonable price, Call Tony!!

Ive had Auto Stoppe do suspension and alignment work for me for over ten years. My first experience was so good that I just kept going back. I had a car that was susceptible to crosswinds, and went in seeking very particular wheel alignment, to far more precision than factory tolerances. Tony did it, and the car was suddenly immune to crosswinds. My most recent visit was to get a pair of struts mounted, and again, got quick service at a reasonable price. Ill be bringing the car in for alignment with the new struts (I installed them myself), and will be bringing Tonys alignment printout sheet with me to match it. Im a customer for life!

My daughter brought her car here based on her bosss recommendation and I cannot fathom how someone could be so utterly dishonest. She described to Tony the (owner) the problems that were occurring with her car, so he informs her hell have a look. Come to find there are coils, misfires, and a list of things that need to be fixed. Believing this honest old man, we give the green light on fixing the problems. Next the day, he calls her up saying theyre finished and are test driving it. Later that day, he gives her another call and informs her that her car has a transmission problem and that his shop does not work on transmissions. He then suggests we take the car to Eagle Transmission. Her car was an 06 Cadillac, its old. Why was this not brought up in beginning prior to the repairs?! When I confronted his dishonest practices he dare ask, Why did she not mention she was having transmission problems? Sir, is she the mechanic or are you? Priding yourself on being open since 1980 and having all this experience but it is obviously not there. Moral of the story, my daughter has been carless, I am out $1300, and I still have to buy her a new car. More expenses, more fees, and for what? Was $1300 really worth it? Never again. Those deceitful practices will come back to bite you in the end.

I have brought my car(s) to Tony and trusted his diagnoses numerous times. The service received is always exceptional and affordable! I dare you to bring your vehicle in for a second opinion on that estimate you may have received from your trusted mechanic. I have referred everyone I talk to needing auto repairs to Auto Stoppe, and ALL of them wound up having them fix their vehicle and becoming a customer! You will receive an honest and fair estimate and even an explanation in terms you can understand about the work needed to be completed. Thank you, Tony, for helping me when I needed it most!

I have never left a review before, but the service I received was so incredible I decided to write my first one.I had my truck serviced a couple of days ago and I can honestly say I wont be taking my truck anywhere but The Auto Shoppe for future service.I have been having problems with my AC for awhile and my new job requires that I wear a suit everyday so showing up hot and sweaty wasnt ideal. Quotes I had received were $500+. Tony and his team were able to fix the problem for less than half that amount. He knew my budget and came in so far under it that I was actually able to fix a couple of other things that I didnt plan on doing for awhile. I cant thank him enough and I will be a repeat customer as long as I live in Austin.

A couple months ago, I had a flat near Auto Stoppe. I came in and Tony (who turned out, somehow, to be the owner) advised that I order two front tires to match the back two (the fronts were a tad smaller / different than the back). I followed that advice and also requested an alignment check. When they called me for pick up, they said they hadnt done the alignment and even claimed I didnt ask for it; they begrudgingly said they could put it back on the lift. Upon picking up, I was told they hadnt done the alignment after all.Even worse, after taking my truck to Gene Johnson Automotive (an amazing, kind shop) for a check up, I was told the front tires are too big for my trucks front end and are rubbing and potentially damaging. Im very disappointed that a tire professional would sell me expensive new tires per his own advice without checking to make sure they fit; after reading great reviews of the place, I trusted them.Anyhow, I emailed to get this resolved quickly. Unfortunately, I saw the kind of unprofessional response to my concerned email coming from a mile away, and I was right, receiving a cold, accusatory, and non-apologetic response from Tony (the owner) a couple days later. As I told them in my email, from the moment I walked into the shop (out of necessity, mind you, since my tire popped in the neighborhood), I was, for reasons unknown to me, met with impatience, disinterest, and a very unprofessional lack of collaboration/cooperation/communication.I emailed a couple times and I have called multiple times already without once having my name and number taken or call returned; all I have received is a single email, containing only accusations that my memory is wrong and an insistence that it was my fault the tires were wrong, with zero apology or offer to help right this wrong. The most concerning thing, regardless of details, is that they sold a customer that was trusting their professional opinion over two hundred dollars worth of tires that they later admitted knew wouldnt fit my truck. As my regular mechanic said, any professional shop shouldve advised me against it, and a quality inspection / test drive shouldve caught the mistake regardless. I mean I even doubted it, which is why I asked, Wll it work to match all four? in the beginning. But I naively trusted Tony, the professional.Clearly, I am thoroughly disappointed in the service I received, the product I was given, and especially in the customer service later. I will be taking my business elsewhere and encouraging all yall, my friends, family, and the schools/businesses I work with to do the same. I grew up in a small town where our mechanic, as Tony should be, was someone who would be honest, collaborative, and kind, and he is none of those things.

The mechanics were rude and uninterested in the fact I had already diagnosed problem of the car. Upon getting it on blocks they proceeded to hunt for any possible problem but instead could only find the problem I had already informed them of (and they refused to acknowledge or otherwise document as previously stated) and fixed it within a business day. They charged a fair rate for the parts (~10% mark up over market price), but charged an hour and a half labor for a 30 minute job (especially if they would of just listened to me and not try to independently diagnosis the problem), for a criminal rate (~$100/hr). Though in the process of the repair they lost multiple non-essential components of the car and critically damaged the oil filter (among other found issues when I got it back to the other side of Texas and was able to do my own maintenance, I was lucky it did not break down on the side of the road while I was trying to get it back home [~200 miles away]). Had this not been an emergency in a foreign town, I would of never have let someone fix my car for me and these guys have reaffirmed my fear of trusting someone else to fix my car.If you need any real work on your car I highly recommend you find another garage.

I took my 2006 Prius into the dealer the other week for an oil change and inspection. They did that, but also wanted to do over $2000 in other stuff. I said, thanks, but no, picked up the car and took in to the Auto Stoppe just up the road from me. Same work is being done right now by them for $700.Your mileage may vary, but I just wanted to give a big, THANKS to Tony and his guys there.

I needed a front end alignment on my 2002 Pontiac Trans Am and I was told to bring it in at 7:30 on Saturday morning. I arrived at 7:30 and spoke to the owner and he said it would be done by the end of the day. I also asked them to fix the parking brake and machine the right rear rotor. He said everything would be finished by the end of the day. At 2:30 pm, just 30 minutes before closing, I received a call from Tony telling me they got behind and didnt get anything finished after having my car for 7 hours! I went and picked up the car and told him I wouldnt be coming back because he didnt keep his word. Instead of offering something to make it right he just kept throwing excuses at me. A persons word means nothing as compared to their actions. The actions of Tony and the Auto Stoppe were severely lacking here.
