This is definitely the best bagel place in Maine! Whenever we come through Maine, we make a point of stopping here. Bagel Mainea has an extensive menu with all sorts of combos to give you the perfect bagel! The staff are friendly and the prices are great. This place is a definite must-try!

Great Bagels and The Boars Head products are always wonderful

The bagels were delicious. The sandwiches my family got were huge and so good! John is who helped us and he was great. He was fast, polite, and made sure we got what we ordered and enjoyed our food.

I’ll drive from Old Orchard Beach every so often just to grab some bagels to bring home. Love this place, especially the jalapeño cream cheese. And the fact that the everything bagels are covered (on both sides) with deliciousness. Unlike most places that only sprinkle ONE side. :)

I discovered this place by accident, driving by early one morning. I stopped in to find the best bagels in the area. They have incredible variety of flavors including rosemary black olive, anadama, and veggie garlic. They top the bagels with seasoning, which they apply on BOTH sides of the bagel. They have bagel sandwiches with fresh ingredients, and boars head meat. They also have lots of cream cheese flavors, hummus, and vegan cream cheese. The service was friendly and it was a quaint store. Don’t miss this place!

What a tasty bagel shop, makes me want to move to Augusta!! Lots of options and plenty of seating - inside and out! I would recommend calling in advance if you have more than 3 or 4 people or in any rush as their ordering method is old school and takes some time.

So it doesnt seem like there is a lot of competition in the bagel market in Maine, if you dont believe me go do a search. Anyways, Bagel Mainea rocks, its a great breakfast and lunch joint whether you want just a bagel or the whole nine yards. Ive bought sandwiches and paninnis here and everything has been excellent. And its not too expensive either.

Bagel sandwiches were just ok, nothing great or special, we ordered 4-5 varieties bagels lacked flavor and were tough. The cashier was rude. Wouldnt go back.

Best Bagel Sandwiches youre going to find. Dont let the the name of the place fool you they sell much more than just bagels. I would give 5 star but the prices are a bit high.

Was super excited to go today after not coming for a while, got their blt (which I always get) and the experience just wasn’t as good. The staff were nice but the food was skimpy and over toasted and all around dissatisfying. I shouldn’t have to pick apart a sandwich for half of it to be good. Not worth it

Ordered turkey cran sandwich, and it was smooshed/crushed flat, had 6 ounces of Mayo and 1 ounce or turkey. It was a Mayo sandwich. Never going back, absolutely horrible. I had to toss the rest on the counter and tell them how terrible it was.

They have great sandwiches but their staff always seem so stressed out and are often rude when you walk in the door. We have tried to look past it the last few times but when you ask for a coffee and the cashier rolls their eyes, it’s just not the best experience.

Just stopped through Bagel Mainea after my Saturday morning grocery shopping run before the forecasted nor’easter. This is always a delicious treat for a break from making my own breakfast.The bagels were freshly made and toasted just right (very lightly) for my bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich.When I was there, a customer let the staff know that the coffee was low, and someone from the back immediately came out and brewed some fresh pots, wiped down the coffee station, and refilled the half & half and other creamers.Call ahead to place your order, as they can be slammed at times. Although, it is surely worth the wait!!Enjoy!

Probably some of the best bagels in Central Maine. I went with friends once and there was a trio of older men playing some songs in the corner of the sunroom on a double-base, bongos, flute, and one of those little wooden frogs that you scratch and hit. It was very relaxing and we were surrounded by artwork from local education centers that were for sale to customers!I have to keep myself from stopping there every time I pass! Their blueberry bagels with honey-butter are to die for! If youre looking for breakfast, brunch, or lunch in the Augusta area then this is definitely the place to stop

People were nice, but the food was absolutely terrible. Our bagels were harder than chinese algebra, low quality ingredients for the toppings, and the composition was poor at best. definitely not a spot for a good bagel, but maybe the other menu items are better.

The food is really, really good. But the service is crazy slow, so make sure you call in ahead of time. We walked in and ordered two breakfast sandwiches. Took 30 minutes because they prioritized the call in orders. Logistically, they should have one or two people dedicated to the in store traffic.

What a fun place! Lots of interesting bagel flavors and cream cheese options. Their jalapeño bagels and cheese are reasonably spicy but not overpowering. Good COVID adaptation - they give you a placard to put on your car and you wait in the lot for your order.

It was nice to have a wrap that had horseradish with some zip to it. They have an extensive menu on the wall that is perhaps too crowded with options. The decor could use a facelift. Good breakfast and lunch option .

Waited 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches.. since they bring it to your vehicle, I finally asked someone if they had forgotten my order since I saw many people come and go, as I waited there. The woman said it was just sitting on the counter. Not good business, and not worth a 45 minute wait for a normal bagel place in Augusta. If you go- you’ll be waiting awhile!

The bagels here are delicious! The quality, in my experience, has been consistent on every visit. I also genuinely appreciate how inclusive the menu options are for vegan customers. It can be challenging to find food options in this area with these dietary restrictions, but Bagel Mainea more than delivers.The service has opportunities. Sometimes the staff is friendly, and engaging, but when traffic is high in-store, you can see the stress level and you dont receive the same quality of service. This doesnt phase me much, as I love the bagels and typically order them in a bag, with no additional asks. I did observe several upset customers during my last visit who, when vocalizing their concerns, were met with defensive, unapologetic responses and attitude. Now, these customers were upset - but I think more could have been done to show genuine understanding and appreciation for their feedback.I would also love to see a remodel, or redesign, of the space in the future. It can be hard to determine who is in line, with the small waiting area, and I have often had several people cut in front of me as a result. A number system would potentially help eliminate that. Take a number, and wait to be called to place your order. Either way, some attention is needed here.All in all, I know Ill be back for more!

My wife and I go here fairly regularly. The service is usually very quick and always spot on. The variety of bread and bagels is second to none. The sandwiches and soups are excellent. If you are in the Augusta area check them out.

I have loved this place for nearly 20 years and it is tragic to see how quickly it fell after the recent sale to new owners. Almost immediately there were no bagels left 5 of our last 6 visits. A bagel shop without bagels is....well....patheticI have stopped in for a bagel and relaxation for years and my son wants to go here as soon as he gets back from college on every break.I went today to chill out, walked in....no bagels....walked out...The demise of a really special place...feel like I lost a family member....so very sad

This used to be one of my favorite place in Augusta but over the last year or two service has gone down dramatically and prices up dramatically. Went in today for a chefs salad , and it was nearly $12! That would be okay if I knew, but the website is outdated and they said they have no menus. None of this is that big of a deal except the lady running the register was extremely rude through the whole transaction. I am a very polite person and I expect to be treated similarly when I make a purchase. I wont be giving bagel mainea my business again after this experience.

Cute bagel shop in Augusta. Their sandwiches are unique and their coffee is perfect on a cool day. Their pastries and muffins are bursting with fruit and vanilla bean. Cant wait to go back.

This place is awesome. It can be very busy so go there and be patient because the staff is so friendly and helpful and deserve your patience. Bagels are wonderful, with a really good variety and the have a fantastic selection of sandwiches they make there fresh everyday. They also exhibit local artists and certain days of the week have musicians playing soft music which can be a nice touch. Go there and support your neighbors.

I go out of my way to stop and get a bagel sandwich here, soooo tasty every time, worst part about it is picking which sandwich to go with!

Excellent bagels, bright and sunny environment, good quality food. Plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.To-go orders are often cold, even when were early. Not a huge problem, though. We have not always been met with kindness by one or two members of the staff, but we come back anyway. Its important to us that small businesses thrive in Augusta.

I have been coming here for years. Awesome bagels, awesome food. I took a star off because the owner was quite condescending to me once and I saw him have a less than polite conversation with an employee once.

Absolutely love it here. Ive never had anything but friendly service and delicious food when Ive visited. This place is popular so a wait for your food should be expected. Vegetarians keep in mind that you can always get anything on the menu without meat which vastly expands your options of delicious meals. If Im hungry and Im in Augusta then Im almost definitely stopping at bagel mania.

While the food is really good, the service and wait times are atrocious. 45 minutes for two bagels, which were still made wrong, is unacceptably long.

We loved moving to Maine in so many ways, but restaurants in Augusta were a real disappointment. Very few original or unique places here; just a lot of chains. And then we found Bagel Mainea! The products are 100% delightful, people are kind, arts are admirable. Our favorite spot in Augusta!

Youd think all breakfast sandwiches taste the same...they dont. Bagel mainea is unreal. It feels like they get better each time I go. They also have live soft jazz music on Sunday mornings, which was a cool surprise. Sausage egg and cheese on a garlic bagel. Wow.

Their breakfast sandwiches are the absolute best. Fresh yummy bagels and I love the bacon sandwich. They have meat cheese deli. They make great unique sandwiches and wraps. Ive been disappointed. Its usually very crowded, especially before work in the mornings. I suggested calling ahead and give them plenty of time. Its definitely worth it!

Since the new owners took over the bagels are not what they used to be. Flat and tasteless. The Taylor Ham I got in a pound chunk was brown around the edges and tasted like it was past its prime. I guess I am all set with this place now, unfortunately. Posting date 6/19

I LOVE this place!!! If youre in a hurry, order ahead because it can get busy and good food takes time. SO worth the wait! A Kevins Delight with no cheese on a toasted salt bagel is my desert island food. I could have that brekkie - supper every day and be a happy person.

The food is very good even if the dining room is showing a bit of wear and tear. Dont be put off by that because the sandwiches are great. My favorite is the portobello and eggplant wrap. It is not dull in the flavor department and its a great warm-up on a cold day.
