Im absolutely over the moon with the custom rings Ron made for me! He made my dream come true of resetting my grandmothers engagement ring. Its so beautiful, and he was able to reuse the metal from the old setting to create the new setting. He also created a beautiful diamond stacking band for me. I was looking for elegant, timeless pieces, and he more than delivered! All of the communication was done from afar as I live in Montana. Ron was so kind in all of our emails and the few phone calls we had. Once the items were finished, it arrived in the mail very quickly.12/10 would recommend!

This review is based solely on my experience shopping here, not on the jewelry itself. My husband and I walked in and were greeted kindly by a woman working there. The owner, Richard was speaking with a woman who was trying to get a value on a piece of jewelry she had. He was extremely rude to her saying basically that her husband was a complete idiot for purchasing it. After about 30 seconds or so, the owner, Richard walked over to us and said, “those front doors lock and won’t let you out unless you buy something. We are not a museum. I will be happy to sell you something, but you can’t look if you’re not going to buy.” We were shocked by the udder rudeness this man expressed towards potential customers that he knows nothing about. We had not even asked to look at anything in the cases yet. We literally had walked in 30 seconds prior. I will never buy something here. If I could give zero stars, I would. I am shocked they are still in business with this customer service.

Right from the beginning, Ron was always so responsive even with how busy he is. I asked for a quote and provided some photos for design ideas. He was able to quickly draft a design and give me an estimate. We went through a few rounds until it was aligned with what I envisioned and he was always so patient. He even replied off hours. From start to finish my experience with this store was excellent. Ron was kind, responsive, helpful and enthusiastic about my plan to reset a ring for my daughters 16th birthday. When the first saphire lacked sparkle, he set our to find another one without any resentment or furstration. He also gave me a free estimate of the stone I took out, and a thorough explanation about his number. I dont usually spend much time in a jewelry store but this place made me want to start collecting! Its awesome to have a great local jeweler who is extremely trustworthy.

I had to get my engagement ring that I bought from Costco resized and Ron was so helpful during the whole process. He was very attentive to detail and really made me feel like I was getting the best service possible. My ring fits great now and I was able to get it back the same day! Rich and Ron were able to take great care of me finding a wedding ring. I explained how i dislike the feeling of most rings, and wanted something planish but not just gold. I was worried about this as ive always HATED wearing rings of any type, but cant exactly not wear my wedding ring...well, not without complaints from a certain someone.They were able to quickly recommend a textured style ring that has rounded edges so it doesnt feel like wearing a normal ring. It is white gold and fits perfectly. The price was abit less then i actually expected too.Great place to get your wedding rings!

My fiancé and I made this our first stop on list of local jewelry places. Excellent reviews up and down on google. We walked into the shop and found the counter unattended for about a minute and a half. We hovered a bit awkwardly in the front of the store wondering if we should leave. Then a man came* from the back of the store to greet us and asked how he could help.I explained that we were looking for some rings. I explained that we had consulted with another jeweler about some custom work but it was a months long process and we wanted something in the meantime. We could probably do around 200$ per ring and while we know that will most likely leave us with simple bands, we’re hoping to explore the options. He cut me off and forcefully asked why were weren’t getting these bands with the other jeweler if we were already getting custom work with them. I said they weren’t a local place (we just moved here recently and had already started this consult before we moved) and we were conducting our consult with them online, and in any case we wanted to walk out with something in hand today. Not wait for it to ship. He then seemed rather spiteful and said “well we do custom work here” and kind of trailed off grumbling- I didn’t catch the tail end of it. I started to say that I didn’t know this shop did custom work and was going to give him the opportunity to try to win our business. But he instead said-and I’m not exaggerating here- “well I can’t help you for 200 rings” and turned around and walked back to the back of the store without another word.I feel a little duped by all the raving reviews versus what happened when we tried to shop there.We took our business across the street to Art FX and had a much better experience.

My Fiance and I popped into this store while on vacation in Oregon (from Washington). We had gotten engaged a few days earlier and thought we would try our hand at finding a ring in Ashland. Wow. We were blown away by this place.First being greeted by Richard, one of the owners, whom made looking at settings and giving us information regarding options pressure free, and really enjoyable. Once we found one we loved, his son Ron, another owner, helped us pick a diamond. We went with a lab created diamond and they were very knowledgeable regarding the process and the differences between these and mined diamonds.Once we placed our order and retuned home, Ron kept us in the loop via email on the status of our ring, and sent us a tracking number once it shipped. I contacted Ron to get my wife a surprise ring under a tight timeline. I requested a Tiffany-style knife edge solitaire, 6 prong, with a 10mm Diamelia round brilliant stone. He worked closely with me to ensure all of the details of the ring were just right and delivered it on time (a day early, actually) so I could present it to my wife at a special event. Ron is knowledgeable, great with suggestions, honest, patient, and kind. I this is the second ring Ive ordered from him and the service has always been top notch. Brought my Rolex in to have it repaired before a vacation and the man behind the counter ridiculed me in front of everyone in the store telling me it was fake. I hadnt gotten it as a birthday gift so I didnt know the authenticity. I left embarassed and in tears. Months later I finally got the nerve to take it for a second, third and fourth opinion..... it is in fact a real Rolex and I was complimented by the most reputable jewelers in my new town of Sarasora Florida for how beautiful it is! Beware of this store. They obviously dont know there anything jewelry, and treat customers horribly.

Also, when I emailed to inquire about a particular setting, Rons reply was prompt & very friendly. I have been in denial about needing to get my wedding rings (two bands soldered together) resized for years. I wore them regularly (and uncomfortably) for quite a while, finally taking them off before a vacation in September 2014. After I came back, I just avoided trying to wear them, and before I knew it, I found it was nearly impossible to put them on (and actually frighteningly and embarrassingly difficult to take them back off). Back when I got married in 2008, I actually had to get my rings resized SMALLER.... which was a great feeling. But who walks in to a jewelry store proudly boasting that they need their rings enlarged? I admit - I had anxiety about the snobby looks that my sausage fingers would get... and I even tricked myself into thinking that rings just couldnt be made big enough for my fingers. I just kept telling myself to get my life straight; they would fit again once I started losing weight.Well... I gave up. I missed the feeling of wearing my wedding rings. I didnt like feeling like my coworkers imagined me having marital problems because I had bare fingers. Plus, I just moved back to Medford from Portland, and Im starting at a new position on Monday, so I wanted to have my rings ready to go. I searched Yelp & Google for options. I admit, I did try reaching out to a chain jeweler, but I worried about the quality, and I was appalled by the turnaround time of several weeks. I then found Gold & Gems and read some really great reviews, but I wondered if it would be worth the trek to Ashland.So, yesterday while I watched my son play at the park, I sent an inquiry on the Gold & Gems website to see what kind of response I might get. Within SEVEN minutes, Ron Hansen responded to me in a thorough and approachable manner. I immediately decided to go for it. I rolled into Gold & Gems sometime between 12-1, with my rowdy child in tow, and I was greeted with warmth by Kathryn. She quickly evaluated my ring and was able to give me a quote, which admittedly was more than I anticipated, but I had not expected chain store value pricing anyway - I expected that I would get what I paid for. Plus, Kathryn offered a turnaround time of about 51-54 hours, and that fit the bill of what I needed. Not to mention, Ron saw me and quickly put together that I had e-mailed that morning, and gave me a high five and a thank you for coming in.Today at 10:32 AM, Kathryn called to excitedly tell me that my rings were ready. To drop my rings off and then have them separated, resized, and resoldered together to be fully completed within 22 hours is pretty amazing. My rings feel and looks fantastic (they cleaned them, too!), and I am pretty ecstatic to have found a reputable and friendly LOCAL business where I am comfortable going and referring others to for any future jewelry repair (or purchasing) needs.
