I had a Great time at my New Favorite Cafe The Med..short for the previous name The Mediterranean I met the owner who is also one of the lead chefs.. I had a basic breakfast bacon crisppy....I really like the crunch...the cheese grits was a happy suprise..I really like the staff energy and FOOD! There located right down the street from the major hotels

I have never written a Google review before, but am inspired to share that eating here this morning was one of the most perfect breakfast experiences of my life. The service was friendly and prompt, the ambience chill and classic. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with grits, a biscuit and coffee. It was an expertly cooked, divine combination that i will ruminate on for years to come - and so fairly priced. Thank you.

We went here for breakfast and The Med had the diner feel but in the center of the city. The food was very good with plenty of flavors but took a little while to get to us. The server was very polite however we had to remind her about missing items.

Welp went here last Friday and got really good service went back again on Sunday before leaving town to place a to-go order which we saw people place on Friday. However today was met with a really dismissive girl who said you can’t place to-go orders on weekends and turned her back on us. Rude. We did try to call and place in advance but there phone line just rang as busy. They is no mention on their website that says you cannot order togo. As someone who works in the industry I get that covid restrictions are changing daily but don’t assume everyone knows how your place of work operates. It’s cost nothing to be kind and means everything. 2 stars for lack of consistency- Try somewhere else on weekends like 5 points.

Fantastic food and service. One of our regular stops. A local Asheville favorite that has been here forever and does not disappoint. I am sure The new owners have made Pete proud to continue his 30 plus years here. The owners also have Foggy Mountain that is a great bar in downtown as well.

Worth the wait, amazing breakfast, tentative staff, and diner atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

Southern comfort breakfast at the Med. The grits were the best grits we have ever had. These bad boys will put any southern cook to shame. The chicken biscuit is what Chick-fil-A wishes they could make. Cassies sandwich had a smorgasbord of locally sourced meets on a brioche bun. This place hit it out of the park. Everything is made from scratch.

We went to the med to have breakfast. We got there around 10am, and got seated. The waitress came to the table, did not introduce herself. She took our order. They kept seating people and did not hold off seating so they could catch up. After awhile i asked about our food and she said we were next. 10 minutes after that we still did not have our food. 45 minutes later, we got our food. We just ordered 2 omelets, nothing special.I asked the waitress for the bill, she asked if we needed water, she grabbed the money on the table and walked away. She did fill our water. We did leave her a tip and she never thanked us. We dont recommend this place. Young kids running it with no manners. I have waitresses for years and I never treated a customer the way we got treated. I would have a full section and never gave service like they did. I do not recommend this place.

The waitress was really kind. Great customer service.I wish I remembered her name. Food was fresh and delicious.My sister also said that one of the guys in the back (Caleb?) Was a cutie pie and she enjoyed the greeting when we walked in.😂

This is a great diner! It is located d right downtown with on street parking.The atmosphere is warm (we like sitting at the counter) the place is very clean (including the restrooms)The food is very good. If you like smoked sausage cooked exactly right don’t miss theirs. The grits are righteous. My husband enjoyed the steak and eggs with crispy potatoes. They offer $$5.00 mimosas.The prices are reasonable. We will be back.There is serious construction just outside their door (new sidewalks?). So be aware

Food was great, service was not. Server had a bad attitude with us the entire time and we felt like it was because we were a little different than everyone else in there. Multiple things that I asked for either didnt make it to the table or I had to ask again. We just felt the service could have been a little more kind but probably would go back for the food

We had great service while visiting. They have the best grits Ive had in my life- and I usually only eat grits as an obligation since it comes with most breakfast plates. This time, they were the star which is hard to admit. We will be going back on our next visit.

Hands-down the best breakfast in town. My husband and I ate here on our last morning in town, and we were lucky enough to sit at the bar and watch the short order chefs at work. This place is an amazingly well-oiled machine, and its food is insanely delicious. We will definitely be back when we pass through Asheville again!

Loved having brunch here! We sat at the bar and watched the chef prepare our food. Everything that came off the grill looks absolutely amazing. we ordered the breakfast burrito and the breakfast burger. Both were super delish!! And the breakfast potatoes were sooooo good!

Great little nook of a diner! Irish coffee was well balanced. I had a chef salad and wife had the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Staff were nice.

Great diner experience. A short, but fully comprehensive breakfast menu which is one of the more affordable places we found in Asheville. The $5 mimosa is unbeatable! It was generously sized and strong. My husband said they have good “diner coffee.”Staff were nice and attentive. My husband had the pisgah bowl and I had the bodega sandwich. I actually really enjoyed the pisgah bowl- it was actually pretty upscale/modern for the otherwise pretty standard diner menu. The bodega sandwich was standard diner greasy and cheesy, which is what I was hoping for.Overall, a solid breakfast find, especially if you’re looking for an affordable boozy start to your day.

Sat at the bar, took almost an hour to get my food after I ordered, have fun if you order the gravy 🤦You either have too many customers, not enough help, or not enough of a kitchen to keep up with your amount of customers, possibly all 3

I used to work there over 20 years ago as a server with another server named Barb. It was a good place to work. They do have wonderful food. I especially loved the Baklava. If you are in Asheville I definitely recommend stopping by for a bite to eat.

This is one of my favorite gems in Asheville. The staff are super friendly and efficient. The cooks are detail oriented hut get the food out quick and with a very good quality. One thing you may not see too often in a scratch style diner is an attractive presentation when plating. Usually it is all about the food,, but at The Med you have great food with the aesthetics. I can not say enough about how much of a staple this place is for us. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

These short order cooks know how to cook the right way. Salted the catfish just right at the correct time and could carry on a conversation still. This place has been under 2 owners for 50 years and the quality and price is in hard to match at this local institution.

A great spot for lunch! I ordered the veggie gyro and was so pleased with the sautéed poblano peppers! I wasn’t expecting them. A little bit of heat, but not too much. I highly recommend for vegetarians and meat eaters alike!

We(3 three people) waited for close to 40 minutes, maybe more, after we had been seated and ordered for our food to come. A couple who came in after us had ordered, eaten, and payed all before we had even gotten our food. Service was less than subpar. While the food was good, was it worth the wait... we were about to leave cash on the table and walk out. Only reason for two stars instead of one was because the food was well seasoned and good.

My opinion, great food and service, but I am bias as my grandma work there for 40 years. The burger was not cooked to my daughters satisfaction, but they gladly cooked another... Again, they were great and so was the food!

Do not let the food here underwhelm you. Ordered the breakfast burrito and it took me back to the west coast. No joke. Excellent service and 5 dollar mimosas and some irish coffee. Wife had the chicken biscuit. It was amazing. 5 stars all the way around. Kudos to whoever made my burrito. YOU made my life. Nothing even fell out of it while I was eating it. Only needed one napkin. Writing this review before I leave the restaurant. Their burrito took me past 3rd base... Cant wait to give the shrimp and grits a go. If you like breakfast. This the place.

The atmosphere was phenomenal, the food was the best breakfast food I’ve ever had, the waitresses were attentive and pleasant. I have 0 issues, anytime I am coming to Asheville you can count on me coming here. If you don’t stop here, and you are visiting you are making a mistake!

In town with friends for the weekend and looking for a breakfast joint. Happend to stumble upon The Med. This is a must stop if you visit Asheville. The grits are some if the best I have ever had! Local sausage and service cant be beat. Not to mention the mason jar Mimosas. Will be back on our next visit!

Can’t believe that we have lived in Asheville and hadn’t been here previously. Brunch was delicious and the portion sizes were huge. We will definitely be coming here more regularly!

This is the place for breakfast in Asheville. Everything I have tried on the menu is great. Shrimp & grits, breakfast burrito, hash bowl, & best biscuits/gravy in town. Very friendly staff makes it even better. A few of the reasons they have been open for over 50 years.

An old restaurant space in downtown Asheville you will walk by and not notice. Look it up for a good bite. I like their sweet tea. Socially distanced for indoor dining this week but subject to change.

Holy moly let me tell you the food was so so good and the sweet tea was delicious. Most of all the price was low. I definitely say you should try it. My favorite was pork chops with grits.

Took my family here it was 10 out of 10!!! We got the Brunch Burger (the outside fried cheese WOW), Breakfast Burrito (HUGE AND TASTY), kids got the pancakes (2 huge ONES AND A SIDE OF BACON) and the other one got the chicken biscuit!!!

The food was great. Its hard to determine the quality of the servers during covid because everyone is afraid to get close to people but The food was really good quality and reasonably priced! One of the owners is a really nice lady who went out of her way to congratulate me and my fiance on our newborn... other servers stayed away (a lil bit goes a long way). Im glad shes there. Dont know her name but Ill give her a shout-out! Will come back

Got there before end of breakfast. Waited 20 min. 11:10 they say no more eggs after Im watching them cook eggs and bacon right in front of me. Unreasonable...not nice people

Good Start to my day.It was super neat.

As soon as I walked in, I was able to see a very local oriented friendly environment. While ordering and eating lunch, I observed the cook and staff conversing with customers they knew well, over the counter. The food was great too. Spaghetti with Greek salad made a steal of a lunch that resulted in leftovers for me (unfortunately I forgot them in my dorm, going home for Thanksgiving!! Ew lol). I was very impressed, and Im now driven to try breakfast menu items when I have the time to. Very positively curious.
