Hands DOWN my favorite comic book store since 1999. Knowledgeable hilarious staff. Chris always keeps me laughing and his recommendations are spot on. Huge selection, great prices, tons of parking. There is a reason why they are the oldest comic store in town and still going strong.

My husband and I enjoy venturing to local comic book shops when were on vacation - this was a gem! Gentleman has a great personality, clearly lives what he does and has a great relationship with local shoppers - thats a great sign to us. Spacing of shelves and merchandise was well thought out. Organization wasnt the best, but everything else made up for it. Will definitely return here if/when were in the area again!

The guy (didnt catch your name sorry!) manning the counter really enjoys his job and interacting with his customers. Wife and I enjoyed the visit. Its clean and organized tons of back issues. A great selection of comics

I have been in this store several times always impressed. Went today first time without one of my kids and was lucky enough there wasn’t too many people there and I had time to talk with ( I believe Chris even called back to thank him ) there are two men who run this both are great guys. I never leave reviews but I had to do my part to get the word out. You want a place with great selection pull list service and people that you can actually trust this is for you. I’m actually going to set up a pull list even tho I live 30 minutes away and pass 3 different comic stores on my way there, just to support these guys and have a little nerd talk about comics . Thank you guys you are definitely what this hobby needs!

Great shop! I’m from NC, but live in Tampa FL. We visited Asheville twice( last summer and last Christmas). They were always very friendly and helpful. Just a great atmosphere. I hope all is well, especially with our current events. See you guys once I return up there! Be safe!

Shout out to Pastimes! I was traveling through NC with my fiancée and remembered of their store in Asheville off of their YouTube videos. Small little detour was so worth it! They have an awesome space that’s easy to navigate and tons of trades and cool wall displays. Will definitely be going again in the future.P.S. Immortal Hulk is the only good Hulk...

One of the last, great sanctuaries for hardcore nerds who loves comics, run by hardcore nerds who love comics. Yeah, theres cool collectibles and other stuff, but the emphasis is on comics. Lots of trades and back issues, dollar and quarter bins, a variety of new issues, and always sage council available from behind the counter. Pastimes is an essential element to anyone who loves this medium and needs a place to immerse in comicbook culture.

Calm and friendly environment! Everything is well organized and most of the comic books have protective plastic covers. They got me into collecting.

In a Quiet little strip mall in a small town in north carolina resides the kind of comic shop most people think died out in the 1960s. The kind where the customer is a friend.Great set up, friendly atmosphere. Large selection, and staff that knows the difference between Hollywood and paper comics.A great place to shop if you are as interested in the golden age of comic book stores as you are in the golden age of comics.

This is the go-to comic shop for all of Asheville. The store clerk is always nice with a smile and is always try to help you out with any questions you have about anything nerdy you could ever want to know about. I have lived in WNC since 2007 and I just discovered the existence of Pastimes last week! I had really been missing out. They actually have the best selection of trade paperback volumes I have seen in Western NC, and the owner was welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this spot if you are into comics, and they have other unique items as well. I actually ended up purchasing an Alien lunchbox. Its the first time I had seen this type of Alien memorabilia. Bravo!

Amazing store, been coming here for 15+ years. While there are other shops in the area, the staff keeps me coming back. Pastimes plays well with others and have referred me to other shops if they cant get something for me, which is rare. Pastimes cares about comics and comic fans first.

Very nice selection of single issues and trade paperbacks. The gentleman working was knowledgeable and nice enough. Perhaps not the most personable but wasnt rude by any means. Picked up some backstock and new comics. Would go back again.

The guys at Pastimes are super helpful and make the buying experience pleasurable. They are willing to take the time to teach a newbie. While Comic Envy is ok, the clerks are not helpful, i had to wait until the clerk could find time to check me out and she snapped at me for picking up a plastic covered rare Batman issue just to look at it. I had thought about buying it until she did that.

The owner and staff have always been helpful. My kids and I are always greeted by name by the owner. The staff are always courteous and friendly. Any questions we have are always answered and we have learned a lot from Chris and the staff about new comics and games. I recommend them to anyone.

This is the best place in Asheville to buy, read, and collect comics from. The staff is always informative and quick to help with whatever your needs may be. This is the best comic shop I have been to in Asheville. Everyone is super friendly and more than helpful. They have even gone out of their way to make sure I find the books Im looking for. This is a place I can go when I want to be treated like a person, regardless of which books I enjoy.Reading some of these negative reviews, I understand there is a lot of competition between the comic book shops in and around Asheville. After going to Pastimes its easy to see these for what they are - other shops trying to win business without putting in the work that makes a real comic shop last. And if I remember correctly, Pastimes is going on over 30 years in business. You cant be in business that long being mean to people, can you?Dont take my word for it. Go check it out for yourself, because your opinion is the one youll trust.

Terrible service with a rude and down-right maliciously, nasty owner towards unwanted customers. I will never go back to this store. Instead I have taken my business to Comic Envy which is a superior comic shop in all regards. It is on the other side of town, but if you live on the Weaverville side, it is well worth the short trip over to tunnel road. Down with Pasttimes, long live Comic Envy!!
