Great selection of wine but it’s pricey.

One of the coolest and best places to get a bottle of wine or beer. Their selection is awesome. We drink a ton of craft beers and are always keen on trying something new. Appalachian Vintner has a great mix of local beers as well as others that are more difficult to find. Many are cold and ready to drink, others are stocked on the shelves, some are even sold as singles. During Covid theyre taking extra precautions that we really appreciate such as having hand sanitizer at the entrance and making sure everyone including staff has a mask on. If youre looking for a place to get a quick six pack or something special, we recommend this one. Parking is free and easy. Theres also an area with some snacks and gifts like t-shirts and hats.

Stopped by for a beer to enjoy with our pizza we got from next door (which I recommend). I wasn’t expecting to enjoy AV as much as I did. I thought it was more of a wine store with some beer, but no it’s just as much of a craft beef store! They had some great top rated beers on tap and in cans/bottles.It’s comfortable in there to sit back and enjoy a beer or two. Great place to escape the tourist crowds.We enjoyed hanging out that we grabbed another beer and got some French Broad chocolate to pair with it.Fantastic service! Be sure to check out the patio out back past the restrooms.

Place had a great selection of beer, wine and bitters. Was also able to get a new Mead and a new sake to try. Many of the beers can be purchased as individuals to try which is nice.

Hands down the best cider selection Ive seen! From local to international, traditional to seriously inventive plus helpful and friendly staff. Really excited to have this place so close.

Once my husband and I found this store we’ve been back regularly! It actually got recommended to us by a guy at the ABC store and we are not disappointed. Since, we’ve recommended our friends to stop in and they’ve all been just as pleased as we are.We came with the intent of looking for a type of bitter, to find the selection of bitters you have is one of the biggest we’ve found in the Asheville area.The beer selection too is unbeatable! I’ve found so many beers I can’t find anywhere else. I really appreciate how everything is sectioned and organized too, it makes finding what I’m looking for or craving easier.You can’t forget the staff... That can make or break a place. Your staff is so helpful, knowledgeable and kind!Such a well rounded business.

A cool place to get local beer and wine. Not too cheap but thats to be expected when youre not buying mass produce just get me drunk already drinks.

I love the beer selection and the guys who work here. It also has a nice vibe with a wood floor in an old feeling building and they have nice product displays. My only complaint is they have lots of their beer inventory sitting out warm. It hasnt been a problem so far but I do wonder how much of the hoppy stuff I buy would be better/fresher if it was kept cold.

Great selection of imported beers and wine. Living in a brew city, you cant find many places that sell imports. Local brews are great but sometimes you just need to get that special fix. Cool atmosphere, especially when times are normal and you can hangout and drink a beer or wine off tap. Took a star off for the steep prices on some items that I like in particular. Dont be surprised if something is a few dollars more than what youre used to paying back at home. Price you pay though when youre the only place around that gets good product.

This place is definitely a favorite spot to go for unique beer and even high end wine. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and the bar service is amazing, too. Couldnt recommend this place enough.

Awesome place. It has pretty much everything I needed to start making my own drinks, especially with our current pandemic. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the place requires masks and even requires you to use hand sanitizer when you walk in the door. I will return there for my needs.

Read the reviews of this place and was excited to visit. Other reviews mention how great the customer service was here but I had no one at all offer to help me.We live out of state and I really wanted to stock up on local beers to carry back home. While there is a huge selection, it is daunting to try and figure out whats what when youre flying blind. I browsed the beer aisles aimlessly for 15 minutes waiting for some help but it never came. It seemed every new person that entered the store was getting attention right away so there is evidence the service is great.Based on other reviews I have to assume I just fell between the cracks but it still made for a very disappointing visit. Needless to say, I bought nothing and wasnt even spoken to on my way out -- empty handed.Chances are youll get great service but that just wasnt my experience.

This is a place where you can order a beer (one of their 30 different beers on tap) and walk around the store and purchase beer or wine. Their selection of beers and wines is unparalleled. The staff is very well educated in the choices available and will assist you with your needs. Although it is rather inconspicuous it is a true diamond in the rough! Try it, youll love it.

This is a true Asheville gem. Their wine and beer selection is one of the best. They also have a good variety of beer on tap you can enjoy on-premises, inside or out. Its a great place to stop and enjoy a beer or bottle of wine with friends, or sip and shop. We live in the Charlotte area. And whenever we come to Asheville, we always stop here for beer, wine, and enjoy a draft or two. You wont be disappointed.

They have a huge selection of beers. Drop the rating due to fact I asked an employee where a draft beer they were selling was from and he couldnt answer and wasnt very friendly. Selection is great, but customer service depends on whom you speak with.

I found Appalachian Vintner on a Google search, so I was initially skeptical of their ability to provide good service. Then I spoke to them on the phone, and they were accommodating. I was calling from Durham and planning a wedding at Chimney Rock state park. So I had a lot on my mind. They were very friendly and offered to work with me, for a larger purchase, like my wedding.When I arrived, one of the owners (sorry, I forgot his name) greeted me and my father. Later my best man arrived and we started looking at various wines. We were lost, and the owner gradually increased his guidance. Perfect in my book. He was gracious, laid back, and knowledgeable at the same time.The owner asked what price range we shopping in, and directed us to the best values in the store. Other places would have sneaked a higher priced wines into their recommendation, but these guys stayed true to my price range.Then we switched over to the beer. My territory with California beer, but I did not really know North Carolina beer. Again, the owner stepped in and directed me to what he thought would be the styles I liked.At the wedding, lots of people complimented the selection and the beer guys raved about the NC beer. Damn that was good stuff!

Huge selection! All of the staff here are really personable and extremely knowledgeable and make great suggestions based on your typical pallet. The tap is a great way to try something new and then buy some to take home if you like it.

This is my favorite wine shop. They have several wines available by the glass or you can choose any bottle and pay a small cork fee to enjoy there. They also have something like 30 beers on tap or you can choose a bottle from the cooler. Theres a patio for outside seating. They have a cooler with cheese and olives and sell local meats and crackers and chocolates. They also have a selection of sodas available. If you need help selecting a wine to complement a meal theyre happy to help. Its one of my happy places.

Every time I go in, they are so quick and kind to help me with everything I need. What would otherwise be a very overwhelming experience the staff makes painless and fun. So many choices! Generous hours too! Theyre even open on Sunday.

Appalachian Vinter is a unique wine and beer store/venue. We go about twice a month and absolutely love it. The selection is great and the staff are friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The bar in the center is a nice touch though we havent partook as of yet.

A damn fine place with down to earth, and knowledgeable staff. A tasting area as well. Love the selections. Always new brews to explore. DSSOLVER, the pain of killing was one of the best pale ales I have ever tasted. The pineapple and coconut are balanced well with a seemingly natural process. And, a crispness and lighter feel for a pale ale. At 7.9% you dont need many, but still want more because its really delicious. Please support local brewing in Asheville. Its a special expierence.

Charles & Geoff, along with their staff, make shopping here easy and fun. You can shop while sipping a favorite libation from their bar!They keep a wide variety of bottled (& canned) magic on their shop shelves, but even though the place is FULL of choice-- AND has a bar in the middle! --it never feels too-crowded or impersonal. In addition to the abundance of beverage choices, the shop carries local specialty foods for purchase and an assortment of housewares and gifts, too. The staff even makes an effort to learn names, preferences, and tastes of its local visitors. Treat yourself to this shopping pleasure.

This is our go to place when we are in Asheville. They have wine, mead, and beer - an incredible amount of each. If you get thirsty while youre there, they have a bar as well! Get a shopping cart when you visit, youll need it!

Just an amazing shop with so much to offer when it comes to quality wines, beer, and even sake. Geoff and Charles are both extremely knowledgeable about the store and the community, which makes them an asset for tourists in the area looking for more info. We cannot forget to shout out Zach, who is the manager there, beertender, and all over awesome dude!!

I love this place. For the beer connoisseur it is the place to go in Asheville. Not only do they have a wide selection of microbrews they also have plenty of the Mainstay beers and a huge selection of wine and champagne. They have an inside Draft Bar tasting room where you can sit at one of their tables and enjoy many wonderful selections of beer and also shop around while drinking. Its perfect really. They also have some locally curated sausages, cheeses and chocolates. The staff is extremely friendly and thankful that you are visiting their Locale. I go there often especially when Im wanting unique, home-crafted Brews, or a great bottle of wine or champagne. Ive been there many times and Im sure I will be back many more.

My wife and I discovered this little gem soon after it opened - close to all of Kenilworth, this place is great. Geoff, the proprietor, is the most help Ive ever had in a wine/beer market. This place is like having a best friend who cant wait to tell you the important things they know about wine and beer. I also recently discovered that its a good place to meet a few friends after work and taste beers from the cooler.

Stopped by with my son-in-law this last weekend. First, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Amazing selection. Ive been to wine stores all over NC looking for Good Madeira. I travel to SC to get it, rarely finding good madeira in NC. The gentleman at the counter directs me to the madeira, where I find my not only my favorite brand, but the brand that is I have yet to find in NC...Rare Wine Co. I bought all four (Charleston Sercial, Boston Bual, NY Malsmy, and one I had not tried yet Savanah). What a find!!! And, I bought the Broadbent Rainwater. Made my weekend!!!! (daughters wedding, and good Madeira). Every time I come to Ashville, this will be one of my first stops.

This place has the best selection for beer and wine in Asheville no questions. They have something for everybody, you can have a glass of wine or a beer while you shop! With 20 beers on tap and over 10 wines by the glass youll have a hard time deciding but just ask the staff they are happy to help you make a decision!

This place is great . They have the best beer selection in the area . Lots of micro brewery and European beers . Very nice selection on wines local and foreign. They also have a growler bar and several drafts to enjoy while shopping . Unfortunately its not wheelchair friendly . Parking can be challenging there is a lot next door . The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. If the dont have they will tell who might .
