It was easy to arrange a drop off/pick up with Greg and he made my cheap Yamaha sound much better than when I brought it in. Easy to park at the business. My guitar must have been seriously out of wack because not only does it sound much better, the adjustments made it much easier to play as well.Stopped in a second time for a quick look/setup of a brand new Fender Strat. I came here to replace my Taylors ES2 with a K&K. Not only did he do an excellent job of replacing the pickup but he also looked at other parts of the guitar as a bonus. The fee he charges is good for the excellent service that he provides. There were no delays and I picked up my guitar on the day he promised. I will use Metro Guitar Service without hesitation.

Had some fret buzz on an ES-355. Greg adjusted the truss rod, and action and I was in and out in 10 minutes. Guitar sounds great. I highly recommend Metro Guitar Service. Im not using anyone else.

The owner/tech got my guitar back to me very quickly (about a 2 day turnaround)... One of the things I asked him to do was restring my Floyd Rose-equipped guitar in C standard tuning (clearly stated this to him and he seemed to make a note of it at his shop), but when I got home I realized that he had strung it in D standard tuning... Super annoying when I paid him $40 for the restring and ended up having to spend a half hour retuning / adjusting the FR system myself.Pros: Fair prices (for the other work he did properly), has a proper shop (other techs in this area are running their businesses out of their basements / garages), very quick turnaround time (some places will take a week for simple repairs).

Ive restrung my acoustic for years and began feeling it wasnt playing like it used to. I wanted to finally take it to someone who knows their stuff and could make the necessary adjustments. Once I got my Taylor back from Greg it sounded awesome! I could tell he spent some good time getting it back in shape. Greg replaced the input jack on my telecaster and set the guitar up. I had previously been happy with the factory setup, but now realize how much better it could have been. The guitar plays great, sounds great, and was back to me in 24 hours.

Go to Greg. Even if you live in DC or Maryland, cross the river and go to Metro Guitar. Dont take your favorite instrument anywhere else. Greg has done two setups and one repair for me. In my experience, most new guitars need a little love, even straight from the factory. I love one previous reviewer’s words - “he gave them a soul.” My guitars came back with great action and excellent intonation. It’s really a joy to play them after he’s worked his magic on them. His turnaround is quick - just a couple of days for a setup, he’ll listen to what you need, and he is good about communicating by email or phone. As many others have mentioned here, Greg is the best around.

I’ve been here twice to get my bass fixed in a tight crunch before a show and he’s done an amazing job. Each time I’ve just called ahead and he’s told me to swing by (his schedule is pretty flexible). He diagnosed the problem on the spot and take a care of it. The first time was a more intense repair so I went and got Kabob Palace down the street while he fixed my bass. Second time, he just fixed it on the spot (minor cleaning of the pots), free of charge. Overall 10/10 experience, he’s exactly what you want and expect out of a local repairman -Peter D.

Greg is not only amazing at his job, but he is is down to earth, too. He has done several setups for me, but he has also rebuilt a difficult nut on a baritone. It involved him building the nut from scratch, which took him ages, and the price was still great. Hes fast, thorough, and he listens to you lay out the problem. Hes the best. Gregll take care of you and if he cant he has no problem recommending you to someone else who can. A couple stories: I had an old Italian bass that was a mess. Took him like 2 minutes to figure out the neck was trashed and it would be a waste of money for me to have him work on it. Totally honest dude. I also had a guitar with a corroded on/off switch. In a total of maybe 5 minutes he had it up on the table and the switch replaced, no unnecessary drop-off. For better or worse hes also pretty informal about pricing I think. Some guys have their hourly rate and they clock every second. From my experience Gregs usually like itll be 20 bucks to replace this little thing, he has it done in 5 minutes, and everythings cool and simple. Drop by even if you just need a quick opinion.

Metro guitar is AMAZING. Greg is the consummate professional. His turn around time is amazing and his craftsmanship is A+ recently he replaced the pickups on my limited addition Fender Jaguar/Tele. I asked him to swap the default with JBE. A few hours after I picked up the guitar he called me to let me know he hadnt added a ground wire and to come back so he could do it immediately. Things can happen and its all about how you handle it that display your professionalism. Greg is as good as they come and I wouldnt trust anyone else with my precious guitars. Oh and his service prices are reasonable too. I may regret having told everyone about Metro Guitar.

Greg @ Metro Guitar rebuilt my knock-off Precision bass with solid new tuning pegs and a better sounding, more Fender-ish P-bass pickup, and now I like it more than most real Fenders I play. He really knows his stuff and the work ended up being cheaper than expected. You cant beat that.
