Great neighborhood store for general merchandise, from planting, tools, kayaking ect..Love this store, 1st stop before trying bigger stores, saving time & money...always kind & helpful

Good experience. I like shopping at True Value stores because they have better customer service than big box stores or online. This store is no exception. Went in for some garden supply stuff and was able to talk to someone who could advise me about products. Decent selection too and prices were reasonable.

Im new to the area and didnt want to make the 20 minute drive to Home depot or any other big box type store so Im incredibly glad that Mapes exists and has everything Ive needed so far. I fully plan on coming here whenever I need something for the house.

Mapes is the best! A local institution that combines the best of a mom and pop shop with everything you could ever need.

With extreme regret I am posting this review and never thought I would be about this place. The other day my husband and I went to Mapes to buy somethings for our son. When we walked in it was the most uncomfortable situation Ive ever encountered. The tall gentleman with the brown hair and glasses followed us around the entire store. He walked past me uncomfortably close and never said excuse me. I asked if he had a particular item I saw a few weeks ago and at first he stared at me and very rudely said, NO! My husband hadnt noticed b/c he was in another aisle. However, he quickly realized my discomfort. In the checkout line, he excused the woman at the register and whispered something to her. Everyone in line turned and gave us looks as if we were criminals. There were two older African Americans in there as well but I assume because they were older they were fine in his eyes. My husband started to put our purchases back but just wanted to hurry out. Ive grown up on the mainline my ENTIRE LIFE! Ive been shopping in Mapes with my parents since I was a child, now I have my own family and was so excited to experience this with our son. Most unfortunate for Mapes b/c I work for Epic Church and we buy the majority of our toys and supplies for our children from here. I also work in Education and have for the past 25 yrs. Moreover, my family and I just launched our own Production Co. In conclusion, myself and all of my businesses will no longer be purchasing anything from Mapes ever again!

Great little Store, They have everything you could ever need in this place from hardware and tools, to birthday cards and other occasions, Christmas decorations, lawn and garden, kids toys, seeds, and pretty much anything else from A to Z an old 5 & dime would of had back in the day. It is really incredible folks the collection of stuff this place has aquired which seems like decades worth of inventory. The staff was super helpful. They sent me home with something small for no charge to see if it would work for me knowing if it did Id be back for more which was exactly the case, smart! Right off the Mainline the store is very convenient to get too and just a wonder to see. I stop there whenever I need something to make a small repair and Im in that area. Go and see for yourself. 👍

I love Mapes b/c its a great old-fashion hardware and general store. Has pretty much anything youd need. And I like to do business with a family-owned business.

This local hardware store is much better than the big corporate ones. I appreciate how kind and knowledgeable everyone is, and I can always find what I need here.

I want to retract my previous negative review. I did have a bad experience with a clerk in the store but the manager of Mapes was very kind and gracious and the matter was sdttled to my satisfaction. The store has a very special niche and is the only place where you can get such a variety of items. Highly recommended

Mapes is an old fashion hardware/5 & dime rolled into one. Sorry to say they closed April 2018. 😯

FANTASTIC store- they have everything. Sure beats driving to Home Depot/Walmart/Lowes/etc.... Been coming here for 30+ years.

So I have dropped off a window screen to rebuild it with pet proof mesh. Was told One price and then when I went to pick it up it was $10 more. Asked to speak to the manager and I was told that there’s no manager on duty. Not only that whole time my screen was ready for pick but they didn’t even bother to call to let me know that it was ready. Never going there again. EVERYTHING OVER PRICE and I WAS OVER CHARGED. Please take your business elsewhere like DMI hardware on Haverford Ave.

Used to find anything and everything there. I think there is less but still the place to go. Locally-owned.

Store hours say they close at 8 pm yet at 7:54PM doors were locked on a Tuesday night. Clearly they dont need business.
