OE Custom built a beautiful island countertop for us. They were easy to work with and the customer support has been amazing. A few weeks after having it installed our cleaning service scratched the top by placing stools on top of it. The team at OE custom was incredibly helpful and came right out to fix it for us!

Paul and his team at OE Custom are true craftspeople! We first found OE Custom many years ago when they built a custom table for our kitchen/casual dining area. At the time, we needed an unusual-sized table that could withstand heavy daily use and serve many purposes. We collaborated on the design, and it remains one of our favorite pieces of furniture. More recently, we again hired OE Custom to build several pieces for our home, including a desktop for our home office and a contemporary dining table, and to convert a sentimental desktop into a piece of wall art. Paul (and his colleague Chris) collaborated with us on the designs and delivered a stunning dining table that was EXACTLY what we hoped for, a beautiful and functional desktop, and a showstopping piece of wall art! We just love everything and look forward to working with them again!

Paul and his team were a delight to work with. We were doing a complete kitchen remodel and wanted a distinctive top for the new island. Within two meetings we had a final design and a slab picked out. A few weeks later we had a beautiful black walnut island top installed. They perfectly translated our vision to reality.It is the focal point of the kitchen and is constantly generating compliments. They even used the extra material to make beautiful cutting boards that we gave to our kids at Christmas!From the quality, craftsmanship and professionalism, to the overall value, my experience with the team @ OE Custom was first rate. Were huge fans of OE Custom! We first read about them in the Washington Post, and had to check them out. Co-Owner Paul Timmins met us at the shop, and spent almost an hour with us us explaining how they do everything, showing us the workshop, and then walking us through the warehouse space with their massive wood slabs. Paul never pushed us to make any particular selection (there was no pressure at all), but answered all our questions. We ended up ordering a live edge desk and dining table, both from a single slab of maple recovered in Maryland. We then stayed in touch with Chris Foreman in sales who kept us updated and got our confirmation on the design before the final cuts, etc. All told, it took two months from order to delivery (it probably would have been quicker but we asked them to add a keyboard tray that we ordered, to the desk). The desk and table are beautiful, extremely sturdy and exactly as we hoped. We had checked out a variety of options for buying single slab tables and desks, and while not cheap, we found OEs prices very reasonable, especially given the craftsmanship and the quality/preparation of their wood. Plus we love supporting a small Made in America business. We highly recommend OE Custom.

OE Custom are true craftsman and the work is fantastic. We are in love with the Black Walnut island countertop we had the team build and all of the unique aspects of the wood that are visible. If you are thinking about going with a cheaper online or big box store option for your butcher block countertops, DONT DO IT!Throughout the design and sales process, Paul was great, helpful and informative with no pressure. It does help to go to the shop to see the various types of wood, finish, etc. They had some amazing live-edge samples, but we were going for something more standard.During our project there was a dimension mix up that was a fault of our cabinet contractor. Paul helped us to work through our options and the team was able to fix the already manufactured countertop as if it had never happened. I cannot overstate the quality of the work and the degree to which they stand by their product.This countertop is the centerpiece of our kitchen. We love it and use it everyday!The team also makes custom tables and other furniture, so we may be going back for more!

I contracted OE Custom to put in an industrial modern wood and metal staircase in a refinished basement, as well as a gliding barn door. Paul and his team were not only highly professional, but very open to my input and very creative in giving me new ideas. In the end, these cool additions made the whole renovation. I was so pleased, that Ive since hired them to do a wood wall hanging for the basement made of walnut scraps, another built in wood table for behind the sofa, and an industrial modern long table for the dining room.The work these guys have done for me make the house and are what always receives the most compliments from visitors. Theyve helped me take a basic row house in the city and make it an exceptional place to call home. They know wood and they are experienced in how to bring it to life on unique projects.Also, for example, Im one of those who appreciates the talents of a good doctor (or contractor), however, bedside manner and professionalism (making me part of the situation) really matter to me in terms of repeat business. These guys have been professional, upfront, and creative from the start. I enjoyed brainstorming new ideas with them. They even invited me to the shop so I could gain ideas from other projects and brainstorm with them on my own. Theyve earned my trust, and frankly, they are fun. They made it a stress-free process, as it should be. When doing a new project on a house, it makes a big difference to work with people who are as excited as you are about it.Good professionals for custom home projects are hard to find. I can highly recommend OE Custom and will keep going back.

We first contracted with OE Custom in 2004 for a kitchen remodel. Excellent work on every aspect of the renovation. In addition, they delivered more than they we expected, paying attention to details, listening to our preferences and questions, not cutting any corners and coming in on budget. We were so satisfied we decided to move up the schedule for our plans to renovate our unfinished basement. We chose to provide our own design, including media and wet bar areas, a full bath and bedroom. Their suggestions for design changes were right on target. Excellent work, on budget and an excellent overall experience. Last year we hired OE to do an upscale renovation of our master bedroom and master bath. The bedroom features a jaw-dropping black walnut wood feature wall and the master bath is stunning as well. Again, on-time, on-budget, minimal disruption and excellent work.

Cant be the same contractor. I hired Paul, OE Custom, to do work in my home and he was honest and his work was excellent. From the initial contact, by email, he was helpful and informative. When it comes to wood, these are the guys you want on your project. I have been working with Paul to create custom outdoor furniture. He brings a great wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project and considers every detail. OE custom is always very enthusiastic and responsive to any requests or questions.

Not an honest contractor. Turns out he was actually dishonest from the first interaction where he took a deposit for permits that he never pulled. Then lied about the permits. Things went missing from the house during demo and he claimed his staff threw them away accidentally. We wanted to keep our demoed historic wood to build a table for the house and he would not give it back due to a dispute over plumbing a shower under a staircase. Apparently, he thought the shower was for a 4 tall gnome. Trust me, dont hire this guy. Ive talked to others and Im not the only one who had a bad experience.

As a lumber supplier for over 20 years I have developed relationships with hundreds of contractors and tradesmen. I am familiar with the quality of their workmanship and their character. I can say without hesitation that OE Custom is one of very very few that I would hand my budget and house keys and let them do as they see fit while I went on vacation.
