Rick did a wonderful job installing new fabric on the dodger on my 18 runabout. He also installed a new connected Bimini. The job was done quickly and at a reasonable cost. His detail guy also did a wonderful job of cleaning and polishing the hull exterior. I strongly recommend his shop.

I wanted a custom bimini top that would fit snugly over the tower on my boat. I talked to Rick and we went over a few different designs and he came up with a design that I really liked. He was really great to work with and delivered an excellent product. Im very happy to have given him my business. He made the whole process very convenient for me and Id highly recommend his services.

-----------------------------------October 2021 update:I did end up taking Rick to court and the court ruled that he does owe me a refund. Rick asked me for a payment plan, which I did extend. He proceeded to only make the first months payment and then to never pay another dime again or to respond to any emails. For the sake of unsuspecting folks who may be taken advantage of like this in the future, selling the judgment to a professional who will work harder to collect.-----------------------------------October 2019 review:Beware - cashes the deposit and disappears. In short, Im in the midst of preparing to take San Joaquin Canvas and Rick to court. Rick took more than $4K of deposit, kept delaying work for 3 months citing various excuses, and then eventually just stopped responding to any of my attempts to get in touch (his business phone, personal cell, text, email, USPS registered mail). Its been over 8 weeks now without any response. I tried to resolve via BBB, but he ignored their calls and letters as well. The court is always a pain, but Im resolved to see this through on principle. Its too bad that a few folks like this give sole props in the delta a bad reputation.Dont make the same mistake. Im not the only one; see other reviews across review websites. I wish I had.

Saw a negative review on Nextdoor.com and thought I would check out some other reviews. The response from the owner towards one of his customers is enough to keep me away....Update (6/24/2019): got a good response from SJC, but still perplexed as to SJCs customer service reply to a customer of his. Everybody has a bad day, but posting a negative reply from a business owner to one of their customers is not good. Ill raise it to 3 stars.

Short version... Rick took 13-1/2 weeks to deliver the cover when it was promised within 4-6 weeks. I’m not impressed with the quality or workmenship.Time frame:I called around back in early March 2018 abd the average wait time was 3-4 weeks on a custom cover for my wake boat. I had two companies follow through with measurements and decided to go with S.J.C. Out of Antioch. Over the phone Rick told me 3-4 weeks, couple days later he made the measures for a final price quote. I agreed and gave him 50% deposit as he required. As soon as I handed him my check he changed the due date to 4-6 weeks. I asked questions and Rick assured me he would deliver.Excuse after excuse and even a week and a half with no update, call backs or answering his phone. It was stressful because I thought he just took my my money. I can go on about the million different excuses and not one was his fault he finally finished the cover close to 14 weeks from when I gave him my money. I asked for a free storage bag he wouldn’t do it, I asked for a discounted storage bag, he wouldn’t do it. Finally upon delivery I demanded a discount for the excuses, stress and late delivery. He was generous enough to knock off $50.00 off a $1,450 price tag.The quality:He states the material is sunbrella but it does not feel like sunbrella. I could be wrong, I guess time will tell. He missed an area that he was suppose to double walled and gave me another excuse by saying it probably wasn’t marked when the marking was still there when he delivered it. Another double walled area was off by inches. The bow was restricted and you can tell it was simply folded over and restricted to make it fit. Excess string was left though out, having me to burn off each end of the stitching. The double walled area has extra flap so when I pull the cover, they snag. The ratchet system is ok but he didn’t double line that area, so hopefully the metal hook doesn’t start scratching the boat on windy days. And lost on quality, the tower coller and Velcro he used wont hold tight so the top Velcro always peels off on one side.He said he would clean it up but truly I’d rather not have to deal with him and his excuses anymore. So I’ll hope for the best and see how long this cover lasts me.Plus: rick is a nice guy and trustworthy, the fabiric he used is really soft to touch and he has many colors to select from. I wish this would have turned out better in delivery time, fit and finish. I would have probably rated this higher.
