Stop and Shop in Ansonia is a little more expensive than the others stores in the area, but they do keep the store clean. However, I have had to tell store staff twice that they have moldy bread on the shelf, especially near the deli, so I would always check what you are buying.The floral department is very nice and they carry good quality flowers. If well care for, their flowers can last up to two weeks if cut, watered, and given flower food. I design flower arrangements for hobby, and I have been able to create some very lovely arrangements with their flowers.Also you can get a few very nice after holiday bargains. The Teddy bear was very good quality but very inexpensive. I bought two and used one during the quarantine for children looking for Teddy bears. I have also bought a few tableware items after holidays like dishes that have been good quality.

Youll find fruits, vegetables and other grocery goods that you would expect. Some items are overpriced and they really only sell food. Their stock isnt that large and the carts are a bit on the smaller side. Its a fine place to shop; however, I would say there are other grocery stores nearby such as BJs which have food as well as other products. You also may find that the bulk packs at BJs are a better deal then Stop & Shops for applicable items. Lastly I must commend them on how many self checkout machines they have. I usually see places have up to 6 but they have 8

This Stop & Shop Supermarket is ragged. The shopping carts are newer so thats a plus!An ugly floor and stained, damaged and missing ceiling tiles, mediocre prices and meats that arent good cuts anyway make for an unpleasant shopping experience. I can tell you with all honesty, this store isnt even close to fitting the description of some of these reviews, its definitely dated and in need of a makeover. I prefer the Shop Rite nearby & will even travel to Big Y for a more affordable and more pleasant shopping experience. At least their stores are in better shape than this place is!

Let me start off with the pharmacy staff are excellent when it comes to cashiers and front desk its a different story. There are never any baggers to help and the cashiers are not friendly at all in fact unpleasant. The customer service is extremely lacking may go to Big Y instead where staff is friendlier and more helpful

I love this store, I dont really shop here often any more but when I do I always have great service, the store is very clean. Great employee. I would highly recommend.

One of the stop&shops I been to since I lived in Connecticut hands down I wanted to thank the head manager for having such a pleasant staff and workers. I work for a nonprofit ministry program that helps feed,clothed and shelter the homeless in all Connecticut and this store showed us much Blessings and would love to come back soon thank you very much.

Fresh baked goods - stocked shelves

Its clean, the people are friendly and the veggies are always fresh. Prices and sales are competitive. Only place I shop. And I love when I can get 30 cents off of a gallon of gas at the gas station.

I dont usually shop here, but I decided to get a few things today. And long story short, there was a bandaid. :| My dad was chewing away and BOOM! A bandaid inside of it. Thing is, we have 0 bandaids at home, so the only place it couldve come from was the food.Update: Called and talked to the manager. They agreed to compensate by giving the equivalent that we payed for the chicken. My dad went into the store, had to re-explain the situation, was given a hard time, and they didnt apologize about the situation. Keeping the star at one.

Customer service experience was poor

If I need fruits, veggies, or poultry, I go to BigY or S&S in Shelton. I would rather take the time to drive further away than get these items in this S&S.

This is a typical stop and shop. It does have a gas station. In my experience the gas station lines at this location arent too bad; if there is a line. (I normally get gas at different stop and shop location this is my 2nd choice to go to) During the Covid only one side is used for entering and exiting (peoples bank side is the closed side usually at stop and shops). They do have all the items needed to clean cart and sanitizer too.This stop and shop could use a remodeling, its an older store but its always clean, the shelves are stocked, all the employees (deli,cashier, guy stocking the ice cream, bakery to the gas attendances) are all helpful and knowledgeable.

Its clean, convienant location, well stocked. Very easy check out never long lines witch is great. I would give 5 stars it it wasnt for the high price of merchandise but its stop and shop its to be expected their all expensive. This one is one of the better ones in CT and Ive stoped at probably all if them. So 4 and a half stars if I could.

The cashiers and service desk workers are so rude. One time l went through self checkout and really rude Judy came running over and asked if l rang up the four 8 packs of Soda in the bottom of my cart, as if l was stealing. Well, she looked at the screen and saw all 4 were scanned and rung up and didnt even apologize. How embarrassing!! Another day me and my daughter entered the store and there were NO carts. We told Judy and she didnt care. The kook handed us two small plastic totes instead of sending a worker to get some outside. We needed a large cart because we were each spending at least $200 each. And the store is always out of stock. For 6 mths theyve been out of Low fat Churn style S&S mint chocolate chip ice cream. We are addicted to it. So now we go to ShopRite. They have it, plus tons of stock and treat customers like humans.

Is it easy to shop lift from there.? A friend saw the lady ahead of her had 2 packages of steak on the bottom shelf of her cart. The steaks were not scanned thru the register. She reported it and they said she had to be seen leaving the store without paying.. friend watched the shoplifters put the steaks in her car and drive away.

Best grocery store in the area. Without a car I cant get to many different stores easily, but was so happy to see that this location was here. Its clean, the food on the shelves is never expired and the employees are nice.

I went to the Florist to order flowers for my sons rehearsal dinner and the woman basically fell just short of telling me to take a hike. I wanted to order bulk to fill 10 centerpieces. She said she had no pictures for me to pick flowers from and that it would cost me double with some lame excuse for not even attempting to help me.

Nice grocery store always got what I needed. Some great sale prices and the store Is clean, but customer service can be way better.

I love the store and the deals BUT, they have extremely poor customer service! All of those lanes and only 2, if that, have cashiers, a young boy who doesn’t seem to be able to function and an extremely slow older man. No one helps bag. The rest is self checkout. They want you to use your own bags but don’t give you any room to place them! Then you have to hit “skip bagging” after EVERY item. It’s not conducive to large shopping trip at all. I’m beyond disgusted! Put some decent cashiers and baggers on! Anyway I’m going to use Milford from now on, they actually care about their customers!

At the gas pumps there is no signage indicating that one must, face the store when dispensing fuel. I was told I would not be able purchase fuel unless I turned my truck around. I consider this rude and obnoxious for the simple fact that I had already shut my truck off and had the hood open. As I stated before, there is no signage indicating to head in only. Dont treat customers like they are stupid Stop & Shop! As there are other places to purchase fuel and groceries for that matter🖕.

I didnt expect what I did when I started at this company but, after today I realize its not that great. My job was basically threatened because of a situation I had no control over at all which is not okay with me at all. It was very unprofessional and not okay. I would think twice next time. I will update.

Always clean and friendly

This is my main stop for groceries. Not a bad Stop & Shop; definitely one of the cleaner and well organized ones Ive been to. I do wish that they had a larger selection of freshly made food. They have a larger selection of cold fresh food than Big Y, but for warm food all they really have is roasted chicken (which is admittedly delicious and rather cheap at $5) as well as fried chicken, but the fried chicken isnt really enough to feed a family like youd expect.

Good place to buy food to bring home and use/eat.The shelton store at 898 Bridgeport Ave is 105% a better store. So go there. Say hi to Jess at customer service. She deserves at least that much.

Needed 1 lotto ticket and waited in line about 20 minutes while someone was sending money, someone was cashing out, and someone felt the need to price shop cigarettes. The service desk employee was a bit too chatty with personal conversations instead of addressing everyone else in line. After that long wait ... My lotto ticket was a complete bust. Not 1 single number.

If o cold give a 0 I would ... waiting at the deli currently, one worker is preparing for the next day completely ignoring us and the other worker is procrastinating! Horrible Service!

Ive never had a problem with this location. In fact, its always as clean as they can reasonably make it, and things are hardly ever out of stock. The staff here if rather friendly as well... Except for the bakery section. They might be a little uptight.

Liked when the weekly circular came in the mail. Used it every week to write my grocery lost to shop at Stop and Shop. Now I dont know what is for sale so Im shopping at other stores.

I most likely left my wallet outside in a carriage right in front of a camera and I asked if they could check the camera to see if someone took it and they said they couldnt help me.

I cant decide if this or the Shelton, CT location is the best of the worst. The variety of their inventory is good; however their produce isnt always the best quality, along with their meat...and oh, I almost forgot...theyre SO EXPENSIVE!!! Staff isnt always friendly...theyre usually doing you a favor by answering a question..so just skip this place all together I guess.

[Quick update to original 5 star review, which I wrote about 6 weeks ago]I honestly have to state that this store is the very best supermarket that I have had the privilage of shopping in, as they have all the products I could ever want, including health foods and pet foods as well, the quality is first rate, the service also first rate and best of all the people who shop there are all good folks, never in a rush, real down to earth....I really miss coming here each week while the strike continues, but at the same time I respect the Union workers decision and hope that both sides can come to an agreement soon which works for everyone :)[Here below is my original 5 star review...]Today, after thinking about it for the last few days, I came back home to Stop & Shop after a very very long absence.I used to shop here during the early to mid 1990s, and on occasion through possibly early 2000s, then it was off to greener pastures.What brought me back all of a sudden was the desire to shop locally, and also merge my banking at the same time.Upon parking, I was surprised how things had changed.Once inside, it was like a step back into time - like a real old school supermarket.The Natural Foods section was way way better and well stocked than I had ever seen before in the past, and I was able to find items which my normal supermarket stopped carrying.Same with the pet food area, while I ended up with completely different brands for both my dog and cats, these were very familiar brands which I had been unable to get for quite sometime now.I made a few laps looking for some items we [back when I was still happily engaged...] used to purchase here, but could not find them, which is just as well, theres nothing wrong with that - because again, I ended up buying items I otherwise would not have come across.The cashier and person bagging were two very sweet and helpful ladies.In fact, every single person I came across in the store seemed in good spirits.To my surprise, I was even greeted by a robot [which I was warned about by a co-worker, but I kind of forgot...] and even the robot seemed to be quite pleasant, dare I say friendly.But yet there was a certain sadness inside, looking at the vast well stocked aisles with no customers in sight...Even the bank had only a couple of people doing business.The occasional box on the floor also in a sad way indicated a sense of being forgotten.The overall feeling inside was as if this store was doing its best to survive in a dying community, and before anyone passes judgement on me saying this, whether we choose to admit it or not - this part of the Valley which I have called my home for 30 solid years now and have no intention of leaving - it is dying, and its dying from the inside out too between all the drugs, crime, sense of hopelessness etc....But yet, todays shopping experience was very good.I was able to purchase what I set out to buy, and the price was right, and the service very good.Once back outside, loading the goods into my 1980s station wagon, listening to the seagulls mournful calls, I looked towards Derby and thought about the Naugatuck River, and all the times I used to spend canoeing and kayaking there years back, back when I was still doing river clean up as a volunteer for the City of Derbys now forgotten Adopt-a-Spot program.So, for me a sort of homecoming....I might even come back.In fact, I am sure that I will :) :) :)

I went to this place and I am never going back again. The place smells dirty and all the food should be thrown in the trash. I went to the check out line and this guy skin was stripping and he was inching all over the place. And touching a damn dog. Even now I feel like throwing up .. health inspectors should lock them down

The store and location is great if you know where things are already and the products are good , but dont expect any of the staff to go out of there way to help you .

Everything has gone up in price over the last 2 months. Also they dont bother to staff the registers when the open at 6 a.m. If you open at 6 you should be ready for business at 6. This place doesnt understand that

This was an ok store, the produce was a bit too ripe, shelves not very well stocked, a bit of a mess inside the store. Parking lot needs help.

Incompetent bakery staff; unhelpful, and they dont know basic information about their stock. When I told the checkout girl that the bakery people told me a different price she actually *flounced* away like I had just told her she couldnt go to the movies with her friends.

If I could give it 0 stars I would, but then I couldnt leave this review. This place is always filthy, we constantly find expired product, employees are always rude and cutting customers off. No wonder they have a low rating of C with the health department.

Sorry to say they are going down hill, prices are good and comparable to other stores but the service is terrible..they had more self cash outs than anywhere and alot of times they only have one or two registers open, I do work all day and dont want to to spend my time waiting in line to pay for my groceries because theres only one register open, other stores in the area( & you know who they are) are making you look bad....
