Be carefull going to this U-haul if you are getting a trailer hitch installed. I had an appointment at 7 and they said it was going to take about 2 hours. I came back at 10 because no one in the store called and no one would answer the phone there. The installer was just starting and he said he did not get in until 10. I am back at the U-haul at 1:30 and they are still not done. There has been no communication and poor customer service. Plan accordingly if you are getting a trailer hitch installed. I would try to find another place if you can. I know I will.

Pathetic. I waited one week for my appointment. We dropped off the car for a hitch installation. The next day they called and said they are awaiting parts and would call when they know when. They havent called. It has been 8 days and I have called them twice since with no answer. If there is no answer, the call center automatically makes you wait 20 minutes or more without regard to the situation at the actual store before the store phone rings. We are going to pick up our car and take it somewhere else.

This U-Haul location is quite a cluster. The only positive experience was the young man who took care of me in the store. I believe his name was Tre. Once I went outside to pick up my trailer there was no one there to help for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once the young man that did show up to help got there he wasn’t very strong in customer service skills. He got visibly upset because somehow he didn’t understand the paperwork and just walked away. He came back a few minutes later and asked to see the paperwork again and directed me over to a trailer. He hooked up the trailer and just left. I didn’t know if he was done or not. After a few minutes of waiting around, I decided to leave. Once I get home to start loading everything up, and then realized he never put the appliance dolly in the trailer. Yes, I should have verified if it was in there or not. I called back up to the store to let them know that I was coming back up to get the dolly and was put on hold for literally 17 minutes. Thankfully when I got there, Tre and the dolly set aside and didn’t make me wait in the huge line to grab it. I will probably be renting from another location in the future.

On Tuesday 6/27/17 I called U-haul to inquire about installing a trailer hitch on my 2012 Mazda 5.The customer service rep stated that they could install the hitch on Thursday 6/29 at 5:30 PM, but I would have to pay extra to rush order the part. I agreed to do so.Thursday 6/29 I received a voice mail at about 10:50 from Joe (the mechanic who installs the hitches). He stated that he does not work past 4:00 and that he could not install the hitch. He arbitrarily rescheduled me for 3:00 Monday, a time that is impossible for me to make.During my lunch break on Thursday I attempted to call U haul to reschedule, and clarify that I would not be paying for a rush order if it was not installed on Thursday. I was not able to get through to the the Ann Arbor branch. Several different customer service agents claimed that they would put me on hold to find help but in each case after being on hold for 10-15 minutes I wound up talking to a new customer service rep who I had to repeat my entire story too. After the fourth rep to do this I stated that I would refuse to pay unless somebody from the Ann Arbor branch called me back within 5 minutes. 15 minutes later Joe called me back and told me that he could install the hitch on Friday 6/30.Friday morning (6/30) I arrived at the Uhaul location, and they told me that I was scheduled for Monday and that my part had not arrived. After that colossal waste of time I will be taking my business elsewhere. I am a reasonable person, but I do not appreciate liars and time wasters, and it seems thats all they have on staff there.

Terrible, do not use them to install a hitch on your car!!! The harness they installed on my car shorted out my battery and connections. Taking it to my dealer to fix the short they told me they have seen at least six shorted UHaul installed harnesses that shorted out. I had the UHaul harness removed.

Oh my god do these guys suck. I had a reservation to get a hitch installed. They reserved the wrong hitch (I needed one with a 2 receiver and they marked down a Class II hitch with a 1.25 receiver). When I called to correct, they said they didnt have any of the correct ones in stock (even though they had quoted us for the 2 one originally) and said I could pay an extra $80 to get one shipped in 2-3 days. We couldnt wait longer because of our upcoming trip. I ended up talking to someone at U-haul customer service who claimed to find the hitch I needed at the Taylor, MI store and set up an appointment for the next day. An hour before my appointment at Taylor, I got a call letting me know that they had installed the last hitch on someone elses vehicle at 10am that day and that I could get one shipped for $80... etc. I called the regional office and got the same story--now claiming that NO U-Haul facilities within an hour drive of Ann Arbor had a Class III hitch in stock (but I could pay $80 for expedited shipping).I just scheduled an appointment to have Bamco Mobile Hitch come to my house tomorrow to install the hitch. Its $50 more than U-Hauls quote ($250 instead of $200) but oh-so-worth it. Check my review of Bamco in a few days to see if they actually came through. Regardless, Im not going back to U-Haul.
