Shopping at any Fred Meyer is great because literally everything can be found under one roof. The midtown location in Anchorage is especially convenient though as it is right on the Seward Highway making it an easy place to turn in and pick up last minute supplies or get gas when headed down the Inlet or the Peninsula. They have a Starbucks, Pharmacy, Jewelers and Electronics, Furniture and Garden Departments (just to name a few). Their prepared foods and sandwiches are delicious and the folks who work there will walk you directly to an item, no matter where it is in the store, if you ask. Extremely friendly and helpful staff members!

Generally a great place. If I were to offer one bit of criticism - the deli is not always open for cutting meat and getting the bean salads and all that, but the employees are still working back there. And they dont acknowledge you, and shouldnt, because the deli closes. They should have a sign. Thats all I ask.Otherwise, my go-to store.

Love this store-great service and friendly and helpful staff. Recently, was disappointed in the state of the women’s room-dirty floors, tp rolls were off the walls and the covers were falling off. Sinks had not been cleaned. Hope this can be improved. Thank you.

Located at Northern Lights and Seward highway, this Fred Meyer supermarket has just about anything you need, including restrooms and a gas station. Across from the new Safeway Carrs grocery and pharmacy. Your choice, both have good produce and meat. Fred Meyer may be a bit less expensive. Busy midtown area

I do not write reviews often. But this one was needed. Generally, I have had good experiences at Fred Meyer. But I am unlikely to ever shop with them again. Here is why.One Saturday, I ordered some groceries from the Fred Meyer on 1000 Northern Lights Blvd. I didnt order a lot. Mostly, I ordered some meat items. The total was around $50. My items arrived on time. When I brought my bags inside, all of my items were accounted for so I did not think anything of it.The weekend came and went. Monday was a holiday. On Tuesday, I took a peek at my bank account like I usually do. There were 2 charges from Fred Meyer for about $50 each. Weird, I thought. So I logged into my Fred Meyer account and noticed that there was about $50 worth of EXTRA charges. There were items that I did not authorize and would never buy such as dog food, cat food ,and other similar items since I am not a pet owner.Either someone had used my debit card info to purchase items for someone by mistake, OR the third party worker who was to deliver my items used my debit card information to help herself some personal items. I later learned that it was not a mistake since the unauthorized items were purchased at different Fred Meyer locations. The next day, I called Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer referred me to their 3rd party business partner INSTACART. I called INSTACART and explained the situation and ultimately, INSTACART told me to go pound sand since the items showed up in my bank account as FRED MEYER charges.I called Fred Meyer back and the manager I spoke to said Instacart should have resolved the issue. However, since they did not, just come in and he would make it right. Since I was busy with work, it was two days before I could get to Fred Meyers. When I went there, the manager on duty listened to my tale. She disappeared for an hour as I stood around. When she re-appeared, she told me there was nothing she could do since it was an Instacart issue. *sigh* This manager told me straight up to NEVER USE Instacart. My question to her was, if you are going to tell me that, why the hell are you guys partnered up with them? Crickets.Be forewarned. If youve read this far, use Fred Meyers grocery delivery service at your own risk. Im sure most of the third party shoppers are honest people who are simply doing their job. HOWEVER, if you get a bad one, they have access to your debit card info and could potentially help themselves to whatever your bank balance can afford. If that happens, do not expect INSTACART to care. Also, do not expect FRED MEYER to make it right either. Maybe your experience will be different. But for me, neither company offered a solution. Simply, neither company cared.It was only $50. I am fortunate enough that I can take a $50 loss without an issue. But it is more than unsettling to know that someone can have access to your bank account info and just freely shop for themselves, then NEITHER of the business who should take responsibility will do so.

Ive been shopping here for 16 years, and its a great store if you hit it in the morning. Very chaotic later in the day. That said, I have had to switch my business to Carrs across the street because they recently installed this crazy lighting system in all their refrigerator units. It is a blinding light that you cant avoid looking at as your reach in to get your items, and gives me an instant headache. At first it was just in the milk section so I stopped buying my milk there and went to Carrs for my milk, but now theyve installed those lights in the section with the yogurt, butter, eggs, etc. Not sure WHY they did this in the first place (if it aint broke, dont fix it)... it is quite obnoxious and Im sure Im not the only one walking out with a headache.

The food is just okay, would be a 3star review except the location is excellent for stopping in at lunch for a quick bite, or grabbing something quick to settle the kids so the rest of the shopping can be done in peace. I don’t mean all the food is lacking, they have a few items that are just about perfect, just not everything.

I would like to put in a good word for associate Tammi who was working in the liquor store on the evening of 04/14/2021. When I called inquiring about an item that the Fred Meyer on Muldoon does not carry, she was happy to check for me and report back that it was indeed available. I drove across town, and was able to purchase the item I had clicked a digital coupon for online with Freds. Tammi was genuinely happy to help, and this sort of thing is not witnessed all that much anymore, unfortunately. Hence this review to let management know that Tammi is a gem and deserves a raise! :-) Thank you for taking care of the customer!

I enjoy the pickup on the curbside, I wish there were some things they would have more regularly in stock such as their flavored coffee syrups. I like the variety of clothing for both adults and children too.

Love Fred Meyer as it has almost everything I need and most things are in stock. I shopped here regularly and the only things that seem to be in and out of stock is Icelandic yogurt and the washed salads. Other than that, no problems getting my eggs, cheese, snacks, and other essentials for the week. Minus one star for handful of employees not wearing masks properly (usually early in the morning when stocking) and not enforcing masks policy with customers. Other than that, staff are friendly, the store is clean and prices are decent.

As a disabled individual the store policies surrounding mobility carts come across as borderline discriminatory. They are kept in the back and there is no seating for disabled individuals at the store front. The store manager was entirely unsympathetic and when I requested that a reasonable accommodation be made he simply told me to walk down to the pharmacy for a seat. This is some distance into the store. Today I was forced to sit on the ground. If I become infected with Covid19 from sitting in the floor I will be filing a lawsuit against this store and manager.

Worst Fred Myers in Alaska. Nobody cares.

They have everything fron toys, automotive, clothing, jewelry, groceries and mEven the fresh departments.. meat sells nothing but Choice cuts.

I like Fred Meyers but just not this location, Abbott is much better.At this Northern Light location, I was being followed by employees. They would pretend they are busy and made sure what I was doing in one of their departments. What made it even worse was after checking out, I was followed a bald-headed man out the door carrying one of those talkies. Luckily my family came just in time and then he did a 360 and left.

Just had to share an over the top customer experience I had at this location --- when checking out a very alert employee named Heaven noticed that one of water bottles in the case had been compromised. She dashed off to replace it after I had checked out. Can you say WOW? Not only a great catch on her part but also an immediate willingness to make it right. If I owned a business in Anchorage I would steal her in a heartbeat.

LOTS of shoppers. Most wearing masks. Fred Meyer is typically one of my favorite - and recommended - places; but not THIS one, not today.Stockers exceptionally inefficient. Looks to me like poor training and poor management.

Absolutely love the jewelry in this place I still have it 8 years ago last time I was at Fred Meyers Anchorage Alaska. I bought jewelry and I still wear that jewelry to this day as a remembrance of the great times and good service excellent products at a very reasonable price this place rocks I mean I could live here.

If you see any shoplifting dont do anything to stop them. 4 to 5 times now I stopped some shoplifters and now Im banned from every Fred Meyers. They dont care that customers have to pay for the stolen goods when the prices increase in the store. Youd think they would be grateful for the assistance but they would rather people be sheep.Thinking about it further it did seem some people were allowed to shoplift because the AP would just sit in the back and watch the cameras. Most likely they were friends of the AP or were rich kids with special family names. People working at the door should be allowed to stop the parasites from running or walking out the doors with $500 to $1,800.

My wife was shopping for me while i was in the hospital. Recovering. This is her story on Facebook tagging the store. I was just stalked in the mens department by a young sales associate. I wasnt behaving suspiciously, my purse can fit a phone, inhaler, and wallet in it, I had no large coat, Im clear eyed, I just looked at my hair: its alright... The only thing suspicious about me is my skin color. I know there will be some people asking me if Im sure. Well, if you turn around 8 times and the same man has materialized there, how are you not being followed. And why me? What did I do? Why did he think Id steal, or that Id need the rabid attention of risk management. I feel like trash. Like Im a monetary risk instead of a living, breathing person. I just needed to buy a hoodie for my husband so he wouldnt get cold on the plane... hes in the hospital for the night. I am highly upset that an employee of this store was behaving in that manner. It was either racial profiling because she is an Alaskan native or something sexual. The prejudice towards Alaskan natives is big up here. I would like to see this kid reprimanded, not fired unless this is not the first offense.

I just ordered my groceries online for the first time and the whole process was FANTASTIC. Fast and easy ordering from home, I arrived promptly at my time and called the number and they came right out and helped me load my groceries! The price was even less than expected! To purchase alcohol, you still have to go into the store so I went inside only for booze and was right back out. The best grocery store experience EVER.

Will not be back again! We went here to do our thanksgiving shopping and happened to come across a good deal on an instant pot which my wife and i had been wanting for some time now the display read 8 quart instant pot normally 139.99 now 79.99 with a second additional coupon stating take an additional 20 percent off when we rang up we got in the so called “family friendly line” when it rang up for 99.99 with 20 percent off i informed aileen (the cashier) that this was incorrect and that i must have grabbed the wrong product by this time the line behind me had grown two about 3 more people eventually she phoned a manager who didn’t show up for several more minutes meanwhile my wife went back over to the display to take a photo of the display and arrived back at the checkstand at the same time as the manager and upon showing them the coupon they again accused us of grabbing a larger size (which does not exist we then gave them time to read their own materials and the label on the box so they could sell it to me at the advertised price. I think there was just a problem with the way the barcode rang up but the way the employees handled it was horrible there was 5 or6 people in line at the end of it all.

The Starbucks was horrible I asked for specific things and got totally wrong I was very detailed

Definitely a bit expensive compared to Walmart which is right next door.Customer service is extremely extremely slow. Only 2 people working customer service. Usually there are at least 6+ people in line, stuck waiting for so long.The tall Samoan woman is pretty rude. I have never seen any friendliness from her. Seems like she hates her job and the customers she talks to.This store is always clean though! My only real issue is the customer service.

Its always has been one of my favorite stores in Anchorage to begin with its a great place to get souvenirs they have a special Alaska Isle where you can get salmon jerky inexpensive baseball hats in Alaska shirts. Now we move on to customer service its spectacular at the store and theyre very helpful. If you have a sweet tooth they have an excellent Bakery they also have a walk-in frozen liquor store. You all fine there frozen food aisle has a lot of salmon in at some of the best prices in Alaska. The store is somewhat like a Meyer store in the states. Is the wide range of products hear from groceries to Automotive.

This place has gone to the bums I will not be shopping here again.

This Freddies is always packed... and yet... the people that work there are friendly and helpful. Even at the self check out. They have a great variety. The store is laid out nicely and the pick up service is BOOM! Ill keep going back!

Clean store well stocked. Frozen food u scoop out how much you want then take it home and cook it. As convenient as it may be I didnt care for it.. Fresh produce here is a great selection. The bakery is pretty good. The store has good sales if you look for them. But this store seems to hide the Friday freebees.

I was going to ask a question to the gentleman in the produce department. I said excuse me and he what me like I was bothering him. He didnt say can or may I help you, he said what. Immediately I walked away. I dont know how you train your employees in customer service but Jeremy behavior was unacceptable.

We were accosted today on our shopping experience unfortunately. Ive always enjoyed Fred Meyers for the most part. A Mrs Kim and a Mr Astrit decided to go through our cart as we were shoe shopping and then eerily followed us around the store for the next half hour. Strange experience for sure.

The deli service was prompt and courteous and he made it was cut how I requested. Check out was fast and efficient. The manager Kevin is always helpful and has a smile.

The Fred Meyer on Seward and Northern Lights as made many changes and additions.Very nice to walk in and see fresh fruit and crisp veggies on display. There are new entree bars where you can pick fresh frozen things like beef fajitas, chicken Alfredo and more.Try it out.

Large variety of organic produce at this Meyer. There were several bargains to be including discounted sandwiches made in their deli, discounted veg and fruit, and discounted meat. There is a large selection of home goods that are reasonably priced. Lines at the check out were reasonable. There is a large bulk food section. There is also a liquor store attached that has fair prices for several types of spirits and wines.

Pretty good store. They have A good selection. Decent prices. Friendly employees. A nice section to eat your food or hang out at for a little bit.

Nice clean store, that even provides free produce for children to have a healthy snack while their parents shop. Prices are a little higher than other places but they always have what Im looking for in stock. Also have a nice sized firearms counter with competitive sales and pricing.

It seems to be too much to ask for a charged disability cart. If youre in need of one its a 50/50 chance at best theyll have one plugged in and ready to use. I recommend shopping elsewhere.

Unhelpful employees that want you to do the work for them at self checkout. Refused to ring up a few gift cards. Went across the street to carrs and treated me great. I’m so glad they opened and gave midtown a choice in grocery!

I love that they a bit of everything. Especially compared to Carrs, who doesnt have hardly any office supplies and much of anything other than food.I also love the rewards, both in gas points and rewards coupons.

When I need something Fred Meyer has it.It is rare that Fred Meyer doesnt have what Im looking for. Sadly not all the deli food is up to the same standards as the rest of the store. Ive never seen whole chickens look so awful in a plastic bag. I remember when the best deal in town was a whole chicken here for $5, but now the price is nearly double and the size of the whole chicken is smaller. This might be a similar story to other items in the grocery stores these days.Thankfully I can find chicken breasts on sale often. During the summer Fred Meyer cooks ribs outside the entrance of the store. These are incredible ribs!

Service was prompt fast courteous and with a genuine smile. Very convenient that customer service is open and I was able to cash a check and get a money order after 10 PM which saved my life.

Vary spacious. As a new member the quality of foods are very good. Checkout can be harried at certain times of the day as can be expected. I have shopped both locations and employees are helpful and courteous. Produce I forgot to mention is excellent

My wife and I have been shopping at the store for about 3 years now the staff is very friendly and very loyal to their customers especially the ones that come in on a regular basis so my visit to the store so far is good What can I say I really have nothing bad to say about this store so far Ive been treated pretty good as a customer In the 3 years that I have been shopping at the store I have seen some weird things but thats to be expected For the things that I have seen happen here at this store I am just so glad that we have clean records

Its a good store but it has more problems with homeless and drugys and they dont carry lots of stuff like they use to and clothes are more expensive then Walmarts the cashiers never say hi or smile some are very rude

This is certainly a Fred Meyers. Not much that is exciting about it, but I have been enjoying the new artisanal cheese area of the building. Lots of nice cheeses, meats, and other things for small plates that feel classy and taste delicious. Also, like all Freddys, it has an Alaska USA branch that is open on Sundays, making this my primary place for banking. Lots of lanes, as well as around 16 self checkout stands (depending on how many are functional or open at a given time).

The newly remodeled store is much nicer than it was before with a much better selection of organic and all natural foods and produce. There will probably be people begging for money and living out of campers at the edge of the parking lot by the gas stations but Ive never had any problems. I lock my car doors and park as close to the building as I can.

Fred Meyer is a great place for one stop shopping. They have food, clothes, household goods, and just about anything else you could think of. The pricing is very good and so is the quality.

What a great store! First time being inside a FM and I have to say, it is one of the greatest stores I have ever been too. Pretty much a Target, Walmart, and Grocery store all in one. Literally a one stop shop.

High crime area, its definitely in the ghetto. DO NOT SHOP HERE, cuz they allow drug-addicted meth heads standing in the parking lot. They dont allow no security because of the lazy employees working. Never again. Check out Natural Pantry store, its WAY better

I dont like this store any more, its crowded and they closed off the second entrance so its a bottle neck. Its dirty and expensive and they split things up and moved the dairy to the back corner. And they dumped the Alaska USA.

I havent been to the Northern Lights Freds in quite a while. What happened? It was dirty, messy, poorly stocked and minimal selections. As I tried to do some grocery shopping i couldnt believe how awful the store is. When they did their remodel it was in better shape, and we all remember how horendeous that was.

You can find most of what you need here. Not always the best quality, but you get one stop shopping. Good bulk and organic section.

Not my fave but convenient sometimes. Nobody goes here anymore, its too popular....Yogi Berra. Easier to get to by bike, parking can be hectic after work. One stop, recently remodeled.

Im in Anchorage for a few weeks for business, and Im so glad there is such a good grocery store here. They seem to have everything I want from seafood to produce to prepared hot foods and salads plus so much more.

Mintown Fred Meyer department store should really take a better look at customer service. I would like it if they would stop treating me as if I was not welcome or just tell me to stop going to there store. I was treated as if I had stolen even when I produced a receipt for my groceries.

Electronics team was terrible. I have never had such an unhelpful, slow and awful experience at a fred meyers before. Worst employees who have no care for their jobs.

They have friendly staff. Love the free Friday items, always something different. We check weekly for specials, but they go fast. And gas points always help the budget.

I used to work there and man I tell you favoritism I hate our supervisor my opinion more like RACIST , Always gives other associates lots of hour but I worked hard for that COMPANY . Ive sold lots of protection plan more like I was the only one who can hit more sales then all of them , they promise gift card and drinks but what do I get just $1.25 ? LAME! I sold 5 in 1 week which our supervisor or any of them can sell .... Shame on yall at least I have a GOOD JOB NOW where supervisor appreciate my HARD WORK!

Went to collect money at Western Union and the line at customer service moved quick, did not have to wait long.

Always have good deals here... be it Steaks, Chicken... Even the Salads there are great in the produce section. .. Also they have a Alaska FCU Branch inside the store which is nice.

Reliably helpful and professional people in the Pharmacy.The floor covering in the main store entry is in very poor condition; needs replacement.Aggressive panhandlers in the parking lot; seemed to purposefully stand at the rear of my car, in area difficult to see, so the car would hit them when backing out.

Aisles are stocked with great products. People are friendly and helpful. Sale prices are great value.

Huge organic section... I felt like I was in Washington 🤣 Anyway, I never really noticed, but they have an equally nice cheese section... there produce looked like it was out of a catalog. Really friendly staff every section was restocking and took a moment to ask if I need help... Secret note: they have an AFCU branch that is open M-F 10-8 and (Sat 10-7 and Sun 11-5) 😱

The manager is EXTREMELY rude!! I always have issues with using coupons there. They don’t know their own coupon policy. I tried to explain to them what their policy was and show them online and the manger and cs sat there with a smirk laughing at me. Definitely will NOT be going back there!

Best staffed supermarket Ive ever visited. Every employee from the checkout to customer service was beyond helpful, very friendly and even had a great sense of humor. The store carried everything I was looking for. Awesomely pleasant experience.

A bit busy, but a lot of cashiers and employees to help you find what you are looking for. Excellent handicap accessibility, parking, and handicap shopping carts. A little sloppy, needing a bit of tiding up.

Not too bad. Flew over from Oregon on a business trip for a couple of days. Prices are reasonable, convenient for last minute things I couldnt pack and close to my hotel.

The Murrays cheese kiosk here has the most helpful employees you could ever ask for. Colby (funny that he works with cheese!) is the best. He knows his cheeses!As for the Fred Meyer itself, they are often out of.... Well, everything. Not much anyone can do about that. Except fix the inventory problem... The biggest issue is that they often have trouble at the checkout stand that could be fixed by listening to the customer. Watched a lady trying to do WIC, and she told them exactly how to do it. The cashier ignored her, then made a mistake and ended up freezing the system, delaying her and all those behind her for nearly 20 minutes. Ended up calling a supervisor over, who asked what was up. Woman explained. Supervisor did it her way, and it took less than 2 minutes to fix.

This place is a zoo on a Friday. The staff is a little slow in their understanding of being efficient. Im sure its great on a non weekend day, but Friday - Sunday...stay away.

I know for a fact ask the lady about where was something else she had an attitude. I said thank you she said nothing. I am down here visiting from lower 48 states. Never go back to that store again. Plus I am not use to folks bring dog in sides of a horse. They dont let dog just come in a place serve food like that. They are to animal friendly out here for me.

It was very busy and all the pumps were in use but it was fast pace. So overall I’d say it was good.

This large, centrally located store offers a wide range of goods. Its more appealing since the recent remodel. Unfortunately, the deli is sloooow and getting slower. Folks working in the deli are courteous and doing their best, but seem woefully understaffed. Its getting the point where I find myself wishing I could take a number or enter my order, go do the rest of my shopping, and circle back. Waiting and waiting at the counter is frustrating and a waste of time.

Love going on Sunday evenings, its not busy, staff is easily available if you need assistance. We had issues with the digital coupons and the self check cashier went above and beyond to make sure that we got it.

I shop and spend a lot at this store. Most of the staff are great, 1 employee is about to cost this store this customer though. She always works the self checkout.Parking is so/so, the parking lot is a major drug sales location. Seen way to many transactions in the parking lot.Get rid of the parking lot drug sales, and the 1 employee and I would give it 5 stars.
