Amazing service and attentive advice about the surrounding areas, bike paths, and terrain. I thought I would get a cruiser to cruise the bike path next to the ocean. They offered a nice mountain bike and it was perfect because I didn’t realize the HILLS to get there! Definitely wear a helmet and you can ride the sidewalks here safely - the drivers in the cars are a little faster than you would expect.

Awesome gear, and we received extremely helpful tips with pickup about great fishing spots. They check the gear before giving it to you to ensure that the waders dont have any leaks. We also showed up extremely late to return our gear and they were really nice and understanding. Definitely rent your gear here!

AOGR is the best place to rent gear in Anchorage! Ive been getting my gear here for over a year. They have EVERYTHING and the owners Michelle and Dave always go out of their way to be available and accommodation. They have helped me with camping gear, including a bear fence for a trip to Katmai! And all of my water sport activities - inflatable kayaks and packrafts.Yesterday we rented packrafts (NRS & Kokopelli) & floated down the Portage River. This is one of the best and most accessible floats close to Anchorage.

Rented a set of fishing gear for 2 1/2 weeks - this is the only place in Anchorage where you can rent for this long. Rod, reel, tackle box, waders and life vest for only $10/day (others places were quoting $25/day). Everything worked great and our son caught his first salmon with it. Close location to airport makes it easy to pick up and drop off if you’re coming from out of town. Highly recommend!

Awesome great camping experience. Tent was water proof enough to stay warm on first snow of the season. Snow would melt second it touched out tent, but we stayed dry. Went to the Byron Glacier. Next time the Spencer Glacier! ❄️

On a recent week long visit to Alaska we rented two cans of bear spray from Alaska Outdoor Gear rental. The website was very easy to use to reserve the items. Pickup was quick and easy, and the customer service was top notch! Super friendly staff who were being very careful during covid, and worked quickly and efficiently to help us pickup and return our items. We received a personal and very informative briefing on how to use the bear spray, as well as information about local bear activity in the last few weeks. The bear spray comes with a holster, for quick and easy access while hiking in bear country. While we never even saw a bear, and didnt need to use the bear spray, it was well worth the piece of mind to have it! Returning the spray was as easy as picking it up, and I would highly recommend Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental for any rental needs!

This gear rental company was efficient and accommodating, and the gear was ready, thoroughly inspected before we left, and preformed perfectly. We had to pick up and drop off during courtesy hours, and the staff were very understanding and accommodating, and are generally nice people. It’s great to have a gear rental company in anchorage for when guests come into town. We rented a packraft and dry suit. We really appreciated the quality of service and gear, and the resource of such a large range of rental gear.

They did great at providing us with all the equipment we needed for our weekend camping experience. They had a very smooth pick-up and drop-off process for all the gear we rented, and they were just really helpful overall. It rained pretty much the whole time we were camping but the tent we rented from them kept us nice and dry.

Went to the store during business hours and no one was there. Decided to reserve a dry suit on their website and once again on the day of my reservation no one was at the store to help. Another couple guys were also waiting to get their camping gear and had to call several times before anyone responded to them to give them their gear. Overall I spent 50 dollars to have no one available to give me my rental and asked for a refund and they refused.

Michelle was great and worked with us throughout the trip. Even extended the return by a day to make it easier for us. Gave great restaurant suggestions in Anchorage for us to try out...so these guys are just not a rental gear company but more personable partners to work with.

I placed an order for bear spray online, it was super easy- affordable and simple. I HIGHLY recommend! The bear spray is purchased by the company new and weighed each time to verify that it is still in good working order and useable for the next customer to rent. A week before my rental I found out that the SUV that my husband and I rented for our honeymoon came with bear spray and I needed to cancel our rental, the owner was very kind about the cancelation and took care of it quickly. They have tons of options of outdoor gear for rent that can help anyone get out into nature and I love that! Seriously, great customer service and prices. If you are in doubt of the bear spray- don’t be! You can also purchase I believe! But the rentals are definitely the most economical since you can’t take bear spray on a plane.

Run by an incredibly nice family. Somewhat informal (communicate via text) but SUPURB customer service! Great selection of gear, incredible prices compared to other places around town, never had a bad experience and Ive used them several times. This company is the main reason my family has been able to have great outdoor experiences over the last year without buying thousands of dollars of gear. Weve also used them to try out things before investing in a certain item of gear. Cant say enough good things 😊

Came to Alaska on a mission trip with several other people. Rented snow pants, coat and boots. The people at the store were very friendly and allowed us to make changes to sizes immediately. The clothes fit great and kept us very warm. We spent quite a few days outside including snow machining and I never got cold once. Highly recommend this place if you need to rent cold weather gear.

We rented an inflatable SUP this past weekend from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental and had a wonderful experience with the staff there. I had called 3-4 days prior looking for a SUP to rent and these guys called me right back after initially missing my call. I was able to rent the board from their website (I had to copy and paste the link, not sure if the rental site is hot on their site). It was easy to do and the equipment was fairly priced. Included with the board were the leashes, paddle, life jacket and pump. Picking up the gear last weekend was also a breeze. They inflated and deflated the SUP on site before we left to make sure everything was working properly, and the owner took the time to run through the gear with us. It maybe took all of 10 minutes. We appreciated that they were able to exchange the electrical air pump for a hand pump on request, as we were planning to backpack to a lake and would not be near our vehicle. They also let us borrow the SUP bag on request to carry the gear in. We will likely invest in our own SUP after having such a fun time with it this weekend. However, if I am ever in need of more equipment to enjoy the Alaskan outdoors with, I will definitely be calling Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental again.

ALASKA outdoor gear rental are amazing.15 of us came from NYC, and they were really accommodating to all our needs, especially our scheduling issues.

Michelle and her husband were gave us really good outdoor wears for the winters in Alasks at a very reasonable prices. We also got satellite phone on rent at a cheaper price. They sanitized everything properly for covid. They have their store in Anchorage but we wanted to rent it in Fairbanks and they deliver it for us in Fairbanks at no extra cost. Also, we were driving to Anchorage on the day after we were supposed to return it in Fairbanks. She agreed that we can return directly to her in Anchorage with one additional day at no extra cost. This is the place where you would want to rent out any outdoor wears when in Alaska. She also recommended good places to eat in Anchorage and they were wonderful. We had an amazing time because of her.

We had an amazing time renting camping gear from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental. We only needed a tent and sleeping bags but they have a great collection of other gear as well.Michelle was very helpful, gave great recommendations for campgrounds and also threw in complimentary pillows.Highly recommended place to rent your stuff to go out and explore the outsides in Alaska!

The gear we rented was in great shape and really made our trip. Camping is so much better than hotels, and even with rain every day we were happy, dry and well fed! Also, we made a last minute change to our reservation and the owners gladly accommodated us with no extra fees or fuss. They also gave us great tips on hikes and other activities to do!

Great company, would definitely rent from them again! I needed a tent as well as some other gear for a kodiak hunt. They were very communicative, and my gear was at Alaska air cargo when I arrived in kodiak. We had some issues getting the gear shipped back to anchorage due to weather and AK air cargo getting backed up. So the gear ended up being in kodiak for a week + longer then it should have been. They were very understanding and didn’t charge me extra. I felt bad even though it clearly was nobody’s fault. In the future I think I would fly the gear as checked luggage rather then shipping it. There is just to much that can delay air cargo.

Rented some backpacking gear from them a couple weeks ago. Thankful to have a place still renting sleeping bags and backpacks when REI has stopped due to COVID precautions, but had a really poor interaction with the owners.The gear was laid outside on a table for pickup, and we did some cursory checks before loading it up and leaving for our trip. Unfortunately, since we had a large group and a lot of gear, I missed the fact that one sleeping bag was missing from our order and people had to share. By the time we found out, we were already far away at the trailhead and out of cell service.After returning the gear, I emailed to explain the situation and requested a refund on just the one sleeping bag. The owners were not apologetic at all and instead got very defensive and turned the situation on us. They insisted they had everything to order and said they would be checking security footage to make sure that we had not lost a bag. Following this, they stopped responding to emails altogether even with multiple followups from us. No answers as to what they saw on their security footage.Lastly, perhaps due to the high demand at the time, the gear we received was old and just barely adequate. One backpack was even missing the main buckle on the waist strap. We had to repurpose another buckle from the pack.

I appreciate the follow-up!

More Alaskans need to visit this place. This is my second year renting gear to go dipnetting and they are by far the best: great service, fantastic selection (everything clean and in good repair), prices are extremely good, and they are really flexible with drop off. Buy Local, Buy Alaskan - and if youre going outside, especially if youre not sure how that pricey gear will hold up, this is the place to go and try it out first.

This place is great. You need a million “toys” to enjoy Alaska and it’s not feasible to own it all. It’s great to have a place with high quality gear to rent!

My mum visiting from Australia needed some gear suitable for glacier walking and aurora viewing in Fairbanks first week of February- temp was -35C up there! Renting gear from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental was affordable and took the stress and time out of shopping for brand new gear....who wants to spend precious vacation time looking for gear thats going to be useless in Australia....not us!The staff were very accommodating, patient and knowledgeable. They helped my mum figure out what layers to wear with her rented gear (layers of gear is a hard concept for Auzzies to wrap their head around, it was stressing my mum out as she was scared of being cold) and they had gear large enough to accommodate all shapes and sizes which was a huge plus! They provided us with a duffel bag to carry the gear around in (it was our checked luggage going to Fairbanks) and were flexible with us returning the gear a day later than expected.I plan on renting gear from here again when my parents return for more Alaska Winter adventures!

While we didnt rent much, but Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental made it easy. We simply needed a cooler for our 10 day trip and later stopped by a fishing pole. We stopped by their location and they took care of us. They picked out what worked - we caught 2 coho salmon! They were also very flexible and easy to communicate with.

We rented our rubber boots and rain gear in the event we required for our fishing charters. We did wear the rubber boots. Staff are very patient and helpful to ensure that the clothing and shoes fit right before we left the store. Easy to find store location and easy access and parking.

The gear was nice and well taken care of and the people were helpful. Will definitely do business with them again and renting our gear saved us quite a bit of money and wasted material. This is my first time go camping and I did not do enough research. I ordered a very heavy tent but once the owner knows I am going to take a plane, she upgraded me a very light MSR tent for free. All the equipments are in very good condition and people work here are very friendly and responsible. They helped me make my first camping experience terrific!

We rented two inflatable kayaks/canoes. No holes, great shape, quick service. Only problem is they were not the best quality to begin with. Sitting down meant being soaked and paddling often spun us in circles if we werent paddling perfectly.However, this did allow us to access some places that we wouldnt have been able to do otherwise. For the price, Id say go for it!

On our visit to Alaska from New York, my friends and I made a late decision to go backcountry camping in Denali, and figured we needed to rent camping gear. We werent sure if we would get the gear we needed closer to Denali, so decided to rent from Anchorage before heading north. We stopped in at Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental after calling ahead, and got everything we needed, including tents, sleeping bags and pads, cookware, and a stove with a propane tank. Being somewhat inexperienced campers, we werent sure what we needed, but the staff was super helpful and gave us a lot of patient guidance about what gear to rent, and how to maximize our value for money. All the gear was in great condition, some of it brand new or near-new. Since we were a group of six renting for multiple nights, they were generous with discounts. When we forgot one item at the store, they even called us and met us at a different location in Anchorage to hand it to us.They even had a drop off location in Denali, which entailed a fee, but worked out much cheaper (and convenient) than renting for an extra day to return in Anchorage.Would definitely recommend to anyone planning to go camping in Alaska. My husband and I are local residents of Anchorage. I dont know why we didnt think about this before, but now that we know about Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental we will definitely be using them for ourselves and for visiting family and friends. We live in a small downtown apartment (approximately 650 ft.²) and on top of that we are minimalists! The idea that we could rent our summer and winter recreational gear was mind blowing. There is no need now to go out and purchase hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of recreational gear when we can rent it for the time period that we need it. We are a group of 7 and we made a shot trip to Fairbanks in the Presidents Day weekend. We rented extreme winter weather gear from here (gloves, boots and pants) as the forecast showed below -30 temperatures! I must say, the gears were absolutely a blessing and allowed us to venture out in that cold post midnight, and coupled with a but of luck and good timing, we managed to view the Aurorae Borealis in all its Glory! The lady and the gentlemen at the store is one of the nicest people weve ever met and she was extremely concerned for our safety, given that we were Alaska noobs, and gave us helpful tips on how to stay safe and navigate the perils of this land.

Michelle and Mason were great and had excellent communication. All the gear was in perfect condition, exactly what we needed, and was delivered on time for our short winter trip to Fairbanks Alaska. We picked up and dropped off the gear at our hotel (Best Western Chena River), which was very convenient since we had an aggressive schedule.They also had the best price for the quality and type of gear we rented ( extreme rated parkas, snow pants, and Boots).Ill definitely be back of we need anything next time were up in Alaska.

If, like me, you need to try gear on - parkas, ski pants, etc., she great at helping you decide what will work best for you. Easy gear drop off at hotel or airports. Helped make an amazing winter trip to AK less expensive (no need for Fairbanks level parka in VA) and more comfortable. Planning to use again on my next trip to the 49th State.

Easily the best place in anchorage to rent all kinds of gear for your adventure . Didn’t want to change our plans but got hit with a sudden storm , so we decided to rent some rain gear, the quality of the stuff was top notch and the staff were super helpful with the process . Would definitely recommend anyone to check this place out for your gear needs .

We originally planned our January trip to Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights, but there are a ton of other great things to experience outdoors there in winter. We managed to get out for things like a dogsledding trip, snowshoeing and camping in Denali, and snowmachining outside of Fairbanks - it was absolutely the trip of a lifetime for us. Obviously it’s cold in the area in January, so appropriate cold weather gear was essential for us to fully enjoy all of these activities. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental was fantastic for us in this regard! We were a little last-minute in our planning, but Michelle was patient with us and made sure that we had everything we needed (camping gear included). Everything was properly sized, clean, and most importantly – there was never a point in our activities where the cold was even remotely an issue. Michelle had us extremely well prepared. The gear was waiting for us at our hotel when we arrived and was picked up from there when we were done with it.It is a trip that we would highly recommend, one of the best experiences of our lifetimes, and of course we would absolutely recommend Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental! The rental costs are a small price to pay to be able to fully enjoy all of the incredible outdoor activities available to make the most of your winter visit.

We rented a kayak and all the related gear from these nice folks in Anchorage, then took it out for a spin around nearby Jewel Lake Park. Highly recommend this place.

Rented a dry suit that appeared to be brand new! Staff was super helpful and met me 30 minutes prior to opening to accommodate my schedule. They were super helpful & kind & stoked for my adventure throughout the whole process. Thanks guys!

From the friendly and knowledgeable staff (and owners) to the high quality gear, everything fit neatly into a fair priced package. 100% recommend this great company to anyone on a budget (or anyone in general) who wants to explore some of the beauty that the Alaskan wilderness has to offer!

Wonderful shop! We came in from Dallas and were treated very well by employees. All necessary material was provided and we were given tips about best areas to go on that day. Rentals are for 24 hour period (waders, poles) which I really appreciated since they close a tad early in my opinion.

We were in touch with Nick and Michelle all through our planning and execution of Denali trip. They had on point recommendation for what we will need to keep us warm, dry etc during camping. The gear was very clean and well maintained.Thank you guys for all the help!

They had more than enough gear for my winter adventures and at a great price. After hiking for 3+ hours in snow, one side of my microspikes snapped. Brought it back with no issues or extra fees. Will definitely come again.
