Having little to no experience with the sales staff, I have nothing to offer in a review. The showroom is clean, expansive but inviting. The technician area appears organized and well equipped.I did however require some help from the parts/accessory department. Christine assisted me in selecting and purchasing what I needed to finish a project. As a US Army veteran, I am especially grateful for the level of respect she displayed in our visit. I picked up and end of season 2020 Spyder F3 Limited from Alex Griffin over there about a week ago. He was willing to work with me for a decent deal on the bike, too. He also answered all my questions, worked with me and my bank to make the transaction smooth, and had the bike ready to go before I initially thought. Great group of people working at the Ames store.I walked into the Ames store on a mission. I was instantly greater by Chad.I explained to Chad what I was interested in and he hooked me up with Brandon.We worked thru the details I let them know where I needed to be.I left Hicklin powersports of Ames with the machine I went to purchase. My wife and I are are extremely happy with Hicklin powersports. We have purchased machines from the Grimes store and are extremely happy with the staff they treat you with utmost respect. Today was the first time I have ever stepped into the Ames store,EVERY ONE there are polite and they listen to you.Hicklin powersports sales staff at both stores never pressured us at all.Bart Hicklin has a great staff at Both stores.I want to say thanks again to Brandon and Chad keep up the great work.

These guys are low pressure and easy to work with. Strangely they were one of only a few shops in the nation that would even work with cash buyers from out of state! Just purchased a 2020 Honda CFR250L. I have been looking at buying this bike for over a year and their price was one of the best in the midwest.Brandon was easy to work with and I appreciate the fact that he was willing to work over the phone to set everything up for the purchase - much easier and I did not have to spend a ton of time waiting around to complete the sale. Im new to riding and was running into some problems with a used bike I recently purchased, so I brought it into Hicklin Ames to see of they could help. They fixed my back tire alignment and loose chain. They chatted with me about my after market levers and adjusted my clutch freeplay, which is now much smoother. They also informed me that the previous owner removed a gasket and used some sort of gasket filler or something. They checked the oil for possible gas and coolant leaks, ordered a new gasket and talked me through things to look out for until the new gasket comes in. I asked them to explain to me what was done/wrong in full so I could learn from it. I would typically expect some attitude with this question, but surprisingly, there was none. These guys are great! Extremely informative, helpful and friendly. So happy with the service I received. Definitely my go-to spot for any of my motorcycle needs. Thank you Hicklin! A+.

Friendly service, wasnt rushed or talked into buying anything, got my helmet and was treated nicely. Little low on bikes right now but thats all dealers right now.

Edit: Apparent lack of production limited them from keeping much stock which is understandable during covid, talked to the manager about pricing and felt as though my opinion was heard.Stopped in during covid times, store is well laid out, people available to help but sadly most stock was sold awaiting pickup. Also, always ask “out the door price” as you may see a tag for such and such amount but the actual fees added with it may surpass what you had anticipated. Luckily this store let me know well in advanced the cost of the bike I wanted, just that it was at their grimes location not Ames.

Purchased a Polaris Ranger from Hicklin after shopping around at several other dealerships. My husband and I recently purchased a side by side from Hicklin in Ames. Brandon, our salesman, was not only incredibly knowledgeable and well versed in the differenciating factors among UTVs when we gave him the criteria we were looking for and UTV wed been reviewing online he instead went above and beyond by suggesting a more budget friendly option that had better performance reviews and was a more reliable machine!

I dropped in at Hicklin one day just to look the place over and I really liked what I saw. There was a nice variety of new bikes, all displayed with enough room that you could see them from all angles. Thats because the showroom is very large, so even with a healthy inventory, theres plenty of display room. As I looked around, I visited with Brandon, the sales manager. I found him very easy to talk to, and the kind of person who seemed straight forward, with no pressure whatsoever. I wasnt in the market for a new bike and a used one caught my eye, not thinking I was going to buy anything. But when I got home, I looked over the used inventory on Hicklins website, and saw a different bike that interested me. I bought the Honda NT 700V shortly thereafter and Ive thoroughly enjoyed riding it. I commute to work, pleasure ride on the weekends, and have gone overnight camping with the bike. I completely satisfied with the entire experience. I would recommend anyone looking for a motorcycle to check out Hicklin of Ames.

Wow!!! I got to say from the second I send the first email to Brandon to the time I road off with my new Can Am I was impressed. I’m a pretty straight forward guy who knows what I want and dealing with Brandon was easy. I told him and he made it happen. When I left he texted me his cell number so if I had any questions I could get ahold of him day or night and I utilized it and his responses were prompt. I even have to say Cat (she does all the paper work) was Awesome got us through it all smoothly and even grabbed us a couple shirts. I love my toys and I will be buying them all from these guys!!! Alex at Hicklin is probably the most honest sales guy I have met. He did not pretend to know everything about the motorcycles, he found all the answers to all of my questions, and was really nice about me seemingly wasting his time for a day before coming back the next day to purchase. The whole process was not intrusive or pressure selling. Just a laidback conversation about riding.They have a vast selection of motorized vehicles from Goldwings and rockets to UTVs and Jet Skis. They have an alright selection for gear and accessories on hand, but can order everything else.The service department got me back on the road in less time than the manufacturer suggested, that was great and they explained my bill with everything they had serviced.I would recommend this place for anyone looking into upgrading their current ride or just starting out their riding journey.

They were able to change my front tire while I ran some errands. I live over 40 miles away so they were very accommodating for me.

I recently had a breakdown with my 2014 CanAm Spyder and Chad and his TEAM at Hicklin Power Sport of AMES, IOWA came to my rescue. They went above and beyond to have a belt overnight from another dealer and they had a lot of calls to try to find one, but they successfully got me back on the road and 450 miles later-- home. I wished I lived closer, but I plan to make a trip to visit this fall, since everything I did was after hours and I want to meet this TEAM. I give them 6** out of 5**.
