We ordered a chocolate hazelnut fudge cake for my wife’s birthday, on their recommendation. We were looking for a cake that would be good for adults and children. This cake was perfect! Everyone was so happy, including the birthday girl. Will absolutely visit again, and order more cakes and pastries!

This is my favorite local coffee house. Their pastries and desserts are amazing. You have to try the blueberry lemon individual cheesecakes, simply to die for!!! Great smoothies, delicious coffee drinks and a mellow and inviting atmosphere that kind of reminds me of the Central Perk from Friends.

Today was my first time and I will definitely be back! Everyone was super friendly and there was outdoor and indoor space to work/read. I got their bacon quiche warmed up and an iced lavender latte. Both were really delicious!

This nice coffee shop tucked away in a small neighborhood strip mall is a great find. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The coffee was great and the food here looks amazing.I had a chance to meet the owner, Sébastien and hes very accommodating and clearly a people person, and hes very supportive of local businesses. Im not surprised that this family owned small business has not closed during a pandemic and it gives me hope that they will be open for years to come.

Was really in the mood for a decaf iced coffee after walking thru Huntley Meadows park. Arrived 25 minutes after they closed on Sunday. Very disappointed but we understood, COVID! Closest place nearby was 7/11 but they didn’t have decaf iced coffee😢. Came back to the car and the owners were taking down the umbrellas on their tables outside the shop. I mentioned we had arrived 25 minutes after they closed and was disappointed I couldn’t get my iced coffee. They opened the shop, gave me an iced coffee and some raspberry pastries and didn’t charge me!! And the iced coffee was DELICIOUS!! Thank you!! Please patronize this place, they have hearts of gold!

Always friendly service and fresh baked goodies. I love that they have different flavors of latte and seasonal specials every time we go there! Chef’s sandwiches are to de-li-ci-ous! They will melt in your mouth that’s how good and fresh they are. There is a lot of cosy seats and outdoor seating too. Highly recommended!

Superb coffee! Smooth flavor, excellent quality espresso and the flavored coffee drinks have just the right amount of sweetness!

UPDATE: I requested a refund for the beverage as I did not have the time to wait another 6 - 12 minutes to create my beverage. The cashier re-swiped my card and said that the beverage was credited back. I checked my credit card statement today and confirmed that a credit was NOT applied to my credit card. I was still charged for the full amount to include the beverage I did not receive. I have opened a dispute. VERY disappointed.There has been a change of ownership and/or management over the last handful of months. In addition to completely changing the decor, the entire staff appears to have changed as well as the baking style. This used to be my happy place, a place I highly looked forward to going, but that has changed. For example, today I waited over 12 minutes for a standard lavender latte - no special asks for different milk, extra shots, etc. On top of the long wait, they did not work on the beverages in the order they were placed and my order was skipped.

This place is great! One of my favorites for their seasonal coffees (check the wall by the register), as well as delicious baked goods!

An excellent experience. My wife and I came here as we like to support smaller businesses. Our first experience was phenomenal. The baristas were very friendly and helpful in guiding us towards a decision for coffee and food. I had the French Kiss Latte and while normally I don’t care much for hot coffee I was exceptionally greeted with a not overly hot, but perfect temperature coffee that was delicious and very enjoyable, something in which is very hard to come by. Finally the owner, or perhaps manager came to us as we were sat at our table and thanked us for visiting and left us with several pastries to take home and try. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a more than average coffee, or someone looking to try something more than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.

All pastries made on site. Incredibly high quality food here. The lemon blueberry cheesecake is the best cheese cake Ive ever had. I live in Culpeper and anytime Im in Alexandria I try and make my way to this place. They are that good. The owner is an awesome woman and her husband is the man when it comes to cooking and baking.

A fantastic cafe with exceptional staff! The food is amazing (as you’d expect from a 5 star chef) and the coffee is perfect. We love this cafe - it’s such an inviting space and the owners have done a great job in making it safe during the pandemic. We won’t have coffee anywhere else in DC.

I never write reviews. In fact, the people who do kind of annoy me! I visited Grounded Coffee with the full intention of staying true to my diet, only to enter and be faced with a display case full of the most bewitching pastries. “Don’t do it” I whispered to myself. Then I did it. I ordered a mini cheesecake and devoured it all. It was AMAZING! I would’ve gone back for more, but alas, there were none left. I now have incorporated a weekly visit into my schedule to fill this need. I’m an addict.

The menu isnt massive, which means they can concentrate on the quality of the offerings. Vegetarian friendly, and well supporting social distancing. Take out only, with lots of side walk seating.

Went in this morning because I wanted a refresher from big-chain coffee places. Immediately loved the atmosphere and the politeness and professionalism from the staff! I got a café au lait and a chocolate croissant. The coffee is fantastic (I got the darker roast) and the chocolate croissant was buttery and perfectly baked. You can really tell the difference in the quality of their product. I’m going to make this place a regular detour.

New owners (couple) providing a continental feel... very much like a French cafe. Excellent bakery and wonderful, interesting lunch selections.

We live near here and love visiting Grounded. They have delicious fancy coffees, yummy pastries and cupcakes, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There’s a corner with toys for small children and shelves of books for folks of all ages. It’s across the street from a nice trail through a nature preserve. I enjoy grabbing a coffee and croissant to enjoy on a peaceful walk.

Finally some changes here, it feels good to se the place refreshed, the previous owners couldnt care less I guess, had the pleasure to meet the new owners and the barista Christiano I think, all great people, amazing pastries, great feel in this French coffee place. my triple shot latte was perfect to finish the week, will come back this week end.

I have loved this place since 2005, when I would bring my 2 daughters to Browne Academy and stop here for breakfast before or a treat after. Fast forward a few years, and I had 2 more daughters who loved to stop in for a treat and to play in the designated play zone.When I became a Realtor®, I would meet clients here. I now find any reason to stop in for their delicious soup, treats, coffee, and hot apple cider. Love everyone who works there from the Owner to the staff!We need one in Lorton.

I love this place! Their lattes are especially creative and delicious. They have a frequent customer card they will stamp for every coffee drink you buy.

It’s a nice community spot with good coffee. The space is comfortable and big, with lots of table seating and a big sectional couch. They had live music on a Sunday afternoon. Down a star because the food options are a bit limited. The baked goods selection, on the other hand, is extensive and looked delicious. There’s a big set of fridges with cold drinks, including lots of kombucha, which may have been left out in the heat too long because it exploded everywhere when I opened it. They have a few hot sandwiches and a few cold sandwiches, and a daily soup. The latte was good. The staff is very friendly. There are a couple of restrooms. There’s also a play section with toys for kids. There’s a decent sized parking lot for all of the shops in he little shopping center

The most family friendly coffee shop Ive ever been to. Hang out on the couches and watch some Peanuts or grab a table to work. Bathrooms include changing stations. I love it and will come back for years to come!

I love this little slice of awesome. I’ve some dairy issues and I can always get an almond milk latte there. Truly though they shove with the baking. We order pies for every special family event. Their daily fresh selection of pastries and hot/cold sandwiches is really very good. It’s a local treasure we are lucky to have.

Definitely suggest you to go support this family owned shop over a chain.Croissants are light, flaky, and mouth watering!They have unique monthly rotating special drinks - as well as all the normal beverages.They also have a rewards program - once you buy 10 drinks you get one free.Some other people have posted they are upset about the few (approx 3 times a year) that the store closes for a week. Again this is a family owned establishment and they deserve vacations too.Keep up the good work and scrumptious treats coming Grounded!

This is a great place for pastries and families but it is NOT a coffee shop. Its loud and the coffee is okay if you like sugary type drinks. If you like quality black coffee in a traditional coffee shop, I would NOT go here.

I love trying local coffee shops and was excited to find a place near me. When I first arrived it was quaint and the decor cute—very cozy. All the staff were super nice and professional, so for that aspect I give a 5 ⭐.However, when I go to a coffee shop, I go to experience the coffee. I ordered a Medium Mocha, light on the mocha flavoring. I could not taste the coffee at all. I did taste a ton of milk that was over steamed. It wasnt that great. I tried my husbands black Americano and it was a lot better, but still not that good because it had extremely bitter notes—like the shot was over pulled. Next time I may try their drip coffee, if I go back. For the coffee alone I give the place a 2⭐.I did make it through a quarter of the cup. Lifes too short to drink bad coffee, so I tossed the rest and went to Swings. I will say the environment is super cozy and barista/coworkers are nice. Thats enough to probably go back and try something different—maybe the food.

Excellent relaxed family atmosphere! This is THE place to go to enjoy grown up coffee and conversation while your children/grandchildren enjoy the play area. We went on Sunday to enjoy the brunch and live music and were delighted with the fine fare and atmosphere. We will be back!

I love this place! A great local coffee shop, authentic, not Starbucks-ed! One of the greatest things is that the chef is an authentic French pastry chef, and it shows! His pastries are simply to die for! I absolutely love the spinach-feta croissants - I could eat those all day long 365 days a year! (Sorry for finishing every sentence with an exclamation mark, but theyre just so good! ;] )

This place is really grounded. There is always something exciting going on. They may have a live act playing or some other type of act. The food is wonderful and its not crazy expensive. I dont drink coffee but they have so many other drink options. I love their teas. Theyre awesome. The food is pretty good too. My favorite is the cheesecake cupcake. You have to try it!
