Such a cute shop! The best place to go for everything marine oriented. They also have some camping supplies. They also have general hardware stuff such as nails, rope etc which is quite useful.

On Sunday 6/13/2021 workers showed right up at 9 AM store opening time opened the door went in and locked it again and said because they didn’t show up on time the store was not opening on time?

I had a winless didnt know what model it was they asked John one of the employees to give me a hand with he spent a lot of time looking on the computer to get me the proper part. I Was very grateful he didnt rush through it he took his time. I called West Marine back John answer the phone, and had the rest of the parts in stock that I needed.Great service. What is going on with the Alexandria store? Calling for 2 days and never an answer. Called corporate customer service and while they were lovely, they had no idea what was going on. Even tried to call store and got no answer. Have order being shipped to store and would like to know where it has been for the last 4 days. No one seems to know nor can customer service people get in touch with store. Have they closed?

Thanks to West Marine in Alexandria for great service and help! I had a frozen nut that I was planning to cut off (yuck!) and was shopping for the replacement. When I mentioned what I was doing, the staff quickly suggested a try Freeze first. I did and it worked like magic. The nut came off and was replaced without any cutting (and all the swearing and issues associated with cutting a bolt off). Thank you!

This is my favorite West Marine in the DC/NVA/MD area, best selection for my personal boating needs.

Excellent experience. Very smart and experienced staff. Real pros. Took plenty of time to listen to me and make perfect recommendations for my safety needs (flares, horn, signaling, etc.) and a new anchor. I had a Coast Guard inspection a few hours after leaving store and passed easily mostly due to the materials I had just purchased at West Marine. Saved me a ticket and headaches. Returns were no hassle. Recommend fully. Pros: Prices not too bad. Great Selection. Parking at store good. Cons: None at this time.

Best boating store around. Best selection of womens rash guards of any sporting store. Everyone is very helpful. They have everything you need to get out on the water including a great selection of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and more. Great life jacket selection as well. Much of their staff is also knowledgeable in any diy repairs as they have much of the equipment needed to keep your water craft in top shape.

Great customer service.. I ordered an online item shipped to the store but I was not able to go to the store to pick it up. Store manager Abigail shipped it to my home free of charge the next day. A great store, great customer service.

West marine has changed focus to a lifestyle store. While this has increased there profits, and will keep them afloat. The general knowledge of employees and selection in the hardware section has ddcreased. However with competitors like defender one cant blame them for changing there focus

Very clean and well organized store. However, be sure to call and confirm they are open before you go. We arrived about an hour and a half before closing to discover the store closed early, with no indication on their website or here on google maps that hours had changed.

Been there twice since Covid hit. The staff was rude and unhelpful both times. Not going back.

Place is very picked over. Almost to the extent that they look like their days are numbered. Hope they can ride out the storm.

They have the best sailing gloves a sailor could ever ask for. Came back to get a second pair after my first ones finally tore to pieces after 5 years of offshore sailing. Quality products can be found here.

Called before I came spoke to a gentleman named Frank about fishing gear....he was very helpful, when I arrived I easily found what I needed , Frank greeted with a pleasant manner and was pretty cool. Have been a customer for many years, always find what was looking for. With family in Puerto Rico severely affected by the catastrophic effect of hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, desperately needed battery operated fans, which were unavailable locally or through web based storefronts. Having purchased an O2 fan for our sailboat years ago, (packed and brought to PR as well) asked if they could check on nearby stores, unfortunately all had been shipped by WM to the PR store in support of the post event. A couple of days later on of the staff, called to inform me that they had tracked four units and were being transferred to their Alexandria store. I was overwhelmed by their thoughtful and dedicated efforts and follow up. Thanks to the WM management and staff!

I definitely wont go back here. I walked in with my husband and daughter and the person at the front said nothing. As soon as a preferred type of customer walked in they were promptly greeted all while i desperately tried to find some moboards, dividers and parallel rulers for an upcoming exam. We had a lot of glares which made me feel like we didnt belong. When i went to checkout the dividers and ruler the older man asked if we had a boat, i said no and he asked another question which seems more like he was just trying to figure out why we were there and show us more that thats not a place for us. I then drove out to the Annapolis branch where i felt the same in their store so i guess its a culture thing. Hope i never have to shop here again.
