I’ve been to many optical stores and havent had the best experiences with eyewear purchases. However, Victor has changed that.Victor is a breath of fresh air. I can tell he enjoys what he does. He is professional, personable and friendly. He is unquestionably a peoples person. More people like him are needed in the world. Thank you very much for making my purchase and visit enjoyable.

We went to the LensCrafters at SouthShore in Alameda. Victor helped us and was amazing. He was kind and professional. He answered all our questions and compared the price we would pay if we used our insurance versus taking advantage of the in-store promo so we could make an informed decision. Victor was respectful of our time and worked quickly to help us get in-and-out.

In the past 5 years I’ve been to Costco optical and another place in Alameda and I really haven’t liked the experience. This time I chose LensCrafters and was very pleased. The exam and purchasing of glasses was a great experience. Everyone was professional and organized. They have a well oiled machine over there 👍🏻 Dr. Lai Pang was excellent!

Absolutely love Victor… he’s always been so patient with us..and I mean all of us.. my parents, my sisters and their husband. My niece and her boyfriend. Me and my husband. Our BFF’S. Very knowledgeable on all the products they carry. Basically you ask him anything and he have an answer for you. We go in and change glasses every two-three years.I can say we will follow Victor to whichever store he work at.

Victor is one of the most precise, skillful opticians I have worked with in over 50 years of wearing prescription eyeglasses. I have a complex prescription and need just the right size frames and high index lenses to accommodate my progressive and high corrective lenses. Victor explained all my options took digital measurements and was so thorough, kind, gentle and reliable. I am delighted eith the rapid delivery of my new glassses and Rio was similarly excellent assisting me when I picked them up. My lenses cost far more than my frames which fot perfectly and so far worth every penny. I will return to this lenscrafters to work woth Victor again in future. I give them my highest recommendation!

I was greeted by a wonderful person Victor. I have not had a great customer service experience for quite some time. Victor was very patient with me and gave me options for my eye glasses. He took the time to help me and another customer. I was very impressed by his multitask skills and awesome customer service. He was caring and listened to what I was looking for to purchase. I was just looking at my options, but after Victors help and the knowledge he provided regarding the eye glasses, I decided to purchase my glasses. The doctors at this location are so kind. They noticed something wrong with my sibling during a routine annual check up and we were able to treat it before it got worse. I’m eternally grateful that they took the time to help with a separate issue when they didn’t have to.

I was there just stopping by and I talked to victor and I find out that the I can use my vision insurance here. And I decided to come back to get a pair a glasses. The service is fantastic. I love Dr. Chen. I had a lot of concerned about my vision since I feel there is change since I no longer go to school. And I was able to spend good amount of time with Dr. Chen. And he find the best fit lenses that I need to be in. And I never feel so comfortable at a eye place like this one because of Dr. Chen. And when it’s come to time to pick glasses. I’m alway very picky with glasses. I tried like 40 frames or plus and Victor didn’t mind. And he and I both find a pair that’s so prefect for me. And I’m very thankful Victor. He helped me so much. He is very professional and friendly. If wasn’t him, I wouldn’t be there. And thank you guys. I love and love this places.

Dr. Ken Chen is a great optometrist! Very patient and thorough, listens to all my concerns, and spends time to find the right fit of contacts for me. I never feel rushed when I’m in his office. His staff is also amazing; patient and kind to all everyone that comes in. The office is clean and COVID compliant. I feel very comfortable in their hands and know I am being heard and taken care of! Definitely recommend for your next eye appointment!

Friendly helpful staff, covid aware as they take your temp right at the door. The optometrist there Ken Chen is the best. Knowledgeable, professional! Listened to all my questions and concerns.

Rude staff when you first walk in to when your looking to purchase prescription glasses. Truly wanted to walk out and not give them any business due to their lack of customer service. Plus I called in advance asking if they have a particular frame and I was told “YES, COME IN. We have it!” And I get there and they don’t have it/carry it (1 day from phone call). Disappointing. I suggest to go else.

This particular store creates a relaxed atmosphere. I am very concerned about my vision. I feel the optromitist are very knowledgeable, and helpful to their clients. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks Alameda Lenscrafters. 😊

I feel like they discriminated against me because of my color, on google it says hours open at 8am, but when I get there it says 9am. The guy cracks open the door and ask if I had a question I asked what time does the store open he said 9, and that I can only come in if I have an appointment already. I asked him if I could just buy the frames and he told me no. I have been buying glasses for 20 years and never have I been somewhere that I couldn’t just buy my frames

This store should be embarrassed by the attitude of its purported Store Manager, Rio. I cant emphasize more the unprofessional, rude, inept attitude. The moment you get in, even before the eye exam, they already want you to pick out glasses and shove you a tray like a buffet restaurant. Hello sales tactics! I was a little shocked that their eye exam was double the price compared to the Emeryville location (add in yet an additional $75 more if you have astigmatism). Never heard of that actually costing extra in advance of an exam. No wonder they want you to fall for the pair you just spent time picking out first. So I ask what insurance they accept, as I know you can get some on the fly, which I said Id look up. She told me a few names, including VSP. I went and took the time to sign up for VSP. Got my insurance active. So after nearly an hour there, Rio tells me theyre not actively in VSP and they arent in network, so I still have to pay the way inflated exam, even with AAAs 30% off its still $89+$75. What a complete waste of my time! Rio demonstrated an absurd lack of empathy, and zero apologies, arguing that she didnt actually waste my time at all, she didnt make an error, and I should have read the plan details. I cant talk to the doctor to leave a comment. Ive been buying pricy glasses for 20+ years from LensCrafters, seeing EYEMED doctors, even at this location! . Edit 5/17/21: They offered me $10 bucks and a 50% coupon instead of 40% everyone else gets. I tried. They still failed. Just stay away Dr. Bui is unfriendly, impatient, lacks empathy, and out right incompetent. I left without him able to determine an Rx, both in 2018 and today. His quote: Some doctors are just too lenient. I wont let anyone try more than 3 choices, if you cant decide go see someone else. I shall, and so should you.

Ive been a customer here at this Lenscrafter location for quite sometime now and I cannot be any happier! With someone with bad eye-sight and worst case of astigmatism, Ive been looking to speak with someone that really knows what is the perfect glasses and lens for me.I came across with Mr. Victor Mendoza here at this location. My experiences with Victor have been phenomenal since day one! Victor is a very ambitious and prestigious representative as he works diligently, assiduously, and industriously for customers such as myself! He is very affable and professional and sets great examples as an embodiment for Lenscrafter. I was given the greatest advices as he established my eye-glasses prescriptions and got me the perfect frame and lenses Ive been looking for the longest time!What would I do without Victor? I would be squinting my eyes, getting into car accidents, and bumping into walls if it wasnt for him. Thank you Victor for setting me up with the perfect lens! I appreciate the great service from all the staff members on my first visit on Oct. 9th and my follow up visit today, Oct. 13th from Victor. Some of the staff were nice & friendly, some made you feel uncomfortable because they stare at you while trying on glasses. Finding the perfect pair of glasses takes time. Do people really steal frames that don’t even have the correct prescription on them? I did what I had to do including exam, and picking out nice frames. But I will not come back next year.

The main issue is I went in for reading glasses and new lenses for my transition distance glasses. What I got were 2 pair of distance glasses and neither were transitions. They are fixing the reading glasses, but I would have to pay more for transition. It had already been a hassle so I kept the distance glasses, even though it was not what I asked for.

I really how helpful everyone was while I was selecting the color lenses for each of my sunglass frames.

I went here with my 14 year old daughter but only I was getting glasses. My daughter insisted she needed glasses also after trying on a few. The dr then suggested an exam, for her and said she needed glasses. Well ,we moved out of state 3 months later, she was rexamined and the Eye doc there said the glasses had a prescription so mild it didnt change her vision at all., and that she didnt need glasses.She (Alameda LC Dr.)sold me glasses 150 dollars as well as blling for exam. The dr looked to be from India , woman. Just bad. Took advantage.

Great Service as we walk in almost close to closing time we did not expected the smile and welcome but more important the patience when it was past their open time and they stay and explain everything to us. I would most likely come back.

Its a great place to have your eyes checked. they have some selection on frames. nice and very accommodating staff, they are all kind (reyna is awesome). they also have multiple eye testing machine that detects the nevus in my eye and Doc Judy, shes very nice, shes transparent on result and very professional.im happy I went to this store and they accept EYEMED.

Never coming back again! Me and my mother were racially profiled and watched the entire time we were there. I felt very uncomfortable. They thought we were coming to steal some glasses! One lady came up to us and asked if we needed help which is normal, not even 5 minutes later another gentleman came up to us and asked the same thing. He saw the first lady walk up to us and ask already. We made small talk with him and continue to search for some frames for my mother. He stayed in the area and watched us our remaining time there. He tried to act like he was doing some work at the nearest work station, but really wasnt. Really shocked this happen in a very diverse place like Alameda.

I was here looking at frames yesterday, while I was looking there was an elderly woman getting assistance on new glasses from employee Adeeb. He was so gracious, kind and respectful to her. I wished the same for my own mother! Bravo Adeeb for your excellent customer care. I will be back.

I love this particularly lens crafters at south shore in alameda ca. They are really nice and helpful. Because prior to coming to this location I had went to the one that’s on baystreet ca that’s located in Emeryville. The staff at Emeryville location was very RUDE on all levels. So I took my business else where.When I had walked into the south shore location (store) it was a friendly atmosphere. And it was another lady that was in there saying that she had horrible experience at the Emeryville location as well.

Dont understand how this place stays in Business. They charged me for tint and when the glasses came there was no tint. Its been two months and still no glasses. Im taking my business to Alameda Eyes and you should too, LensCrafters hires the most incompetent (Andy) people on the planet.

Another bad customer service experience. I feel like its a bit like visiting a car dealership. Although dealerships have coffee and let you use the restroom.

I am blown away how great my progressive lenses are !! They were perfect on the first try ! Usually alot of distortion but not this time ! So thankful !

This place is filled with mean ememployees from the manager to the front desk clerk. They have no respect to customers. Rude and inconsiderate people except the optometist.I could be treated better in a third world countries. Surprised they are still in business.

Extremely rude receptionist. They seemed nice when my spouse and I came in to have our glasses ordered. The next day I realized Lens Crafters was outside my insurance network and I called over the phone to cancel my order that I made. The person I talked to was extremely rude and raised her voice about the cancellation. I told them I was certain about the cancellation and that I will come in the store in a bit to take my both me and my spouses prescription papers that we got done at Kaiser. When I got to the store, and asked for my prescription papers, they already shredded them.... Wow. Thanks for the inconvenience. Ive been going to this place in the past and now I will never go back. Thanks.

My whole family is seen here but they will not see my youngest because she is five years old and needs glasses for school ?!?! Even though Ive been a client for years. I could have been told this over the phone and not loose time and a day from work. Horrible service.

STOP AND READ PLEASE. If you have VSP they are NOT in network and they will charge you crazy amounts to get glasses. Take my example: I got premium transition lenses For my old frames and 1 year insurance with taxes my bill was close to 300! At Eyewise Alameda which IS in VSP network charged just above 200 for new frames + premium lenses + 2 years included warranty!! Sooo much more for my money.My glasses got steeped on and completely ruined not even 2 weeks after my purchase. Shelly Hernandez made the experience at Eyewise great ask for her and GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Don’t believe me, read their 5 star reviews.

Came in and daughter got her lenses replaced the same day. Service wA competent and quick. Will go here again.

This used to be glasses on an hour...2 pair and it’s been over 2 weeks. Guy at the counter seemed confused that. I one had called me about a delay. Experience with those at the front counter varies greatly. Ugh.
