Cute coffee shop right in downtown Abilene, Texas. Convenient to shopping, museums and attractions. Situated next to a beautiful green space with water feature. Visited early afternoon on 4/24/21. Staff was friendly and our order was processed quickly and correctly. Cute decor- don’t miss the take one/leave one library above the faux fireplace. Don’t pass by this gem!

Ive been coming here a lot more recently due to starting some school, and Ive always loved this place. Great coffee, great service, and a great place to study and relax! Highly recommend, even if you arent doing school/studying, you should come by and enjoy the atmosphere, especially on open mic nights on Thursdays!

This was a wonderful find! Great atmosphere inside and the staff was very friendly and helpful during my visit! Totally recommend this establishment if you have time and are in the area. No drive thru and limited parking space but well worth the visit!

Ive been coming to Monks for over ten years, and I is only getting better! About every other time I find myself passing through Abilene, Ill either grab a drink to-go or relax for a bit in this cozy coffee shop. The brewed coffee, French press, and espresso drinks all really shine here!

A real fixture in downtown Abilene that hasnt let their loyal following and steady business go to their heads. This place has a friendly and warm staff to go with the nice vibe of the old building that makes everyone feel welcome. They brew very good coffee and it is always done to perfection and served exactly as asked for. If you appreciate a really good coffee hang out this is definitely a place you need to check out.

Ive been here before but it had been a while. I went with the classic Strawberry Shake. It was great. The barista was super nice and helpful. Atmosphere is chill and relaxing. You can dine in and zen out, or you can dine out, and chill by the downtown waterfall, and watch the cars go by.Solid spot for sure!Edit: On Sundays, they are super busy, due to them being the only coffee shop open on Sundays. Depending on when you go, it could be calm and serene, or it could be noisy, so just keep that in mind. Also, it can get a little hot or stuffy sometimes. I dont know if this an AC thing or just a fan thing but yeah. Overall though, def a highlight of the Lene.

Ive been coming to Monks about 2 weeks now Ive always had a great experience I get an iced vanilla caramel latte and I usually get a muffin its always yummy. When it comes to customer service they are awesome 10 out 10 would recommend.

I usually go to big country when I’m in Abilene, but they were closed for New Year’s Day and I’m so glad!! My boyfriend and I stopped in and the barista was so friendly and extremely inviting. This was my first time going. My son talks about Monks all the time. Its his favorite and because of him it may become one of my favs as well. I ordered the strawberry-peach smoothie and it was soooo good 😋 They have gr8 customer service and the environment is so welcoming. If u are looking for a good coffee shop to drink your coffee, latte, smoothie or just lounge, this is the place.

Although I was only in town briefly, I would definitely make this my hang on the long term. Get your espresso served with a smile and have some great convo to go along with it. A great space for meeting friends, and theres even a space in the back for more intimate conversations. Longer hours on the weekend make it a great alternative.

Love this coffee shop! My husband and I come here when were out of coffee at home and we have never been let down. The girls are always super sweet and personable, the coffee is always made to brighten your day, and you dont run into crazy long lines like at Starbucks. There is a cozy seating area inside, however with the pandemic we like to sit outside by the water feature. We highly recommend Monks for their customer service, pricing, and overall great quality coffee and beverages.

Great coffee here in a great downtown location. Beautiful artwork hanging from local artists and plenty of indoor seating with a couple of seats in front of the cafe. There is outdoor seating at the park next door as well as Everman Park down the street.

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Abilene! They will invent the coffee you are looking for! I would always go off their menu and one day I wanted something different one of the baristas made me a lavender vanilla hot coffee and it was exactly what I needed! Highly recommend.

Just happened to stop by on a road trip and this was one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to (I’ve been to a lot). The atmosphere was really chill and comfortable, there were a lot of flavor options, and my latte was incredibly good. They made a mistake with my drink but when I told them they apologized and fixed it immediately. The prices are also more reasonable than a lot of coffee shops these days. I’m almost considering going a little out of my ways to stop by again on the way home.

Been going there for years off and on, and every time, they are friendly and courteous and make the coffee the way you like it...

The atmosphere was really nice and cozy and the customer service was super awesome! When my mom order her drink there was a miscommunication and they fixed it without hesitation. They even have alternative milk options and added pumps of hazelnut syrup to my iced white chocolate mocha! They only thing that makes my review 4 stars instead of 5 is that my drink wasnt good; either it was too much milk or not enough flavor, I dont know. But I definitely recommend going there!

They have the best coffee, but I recommend the green tea smoothie for the summer!! So refreshing and yummy!!

Best Coffee Shop in Town. I’ve been Goin here ever since I was a Freshmen in High School, and this place is just AMAZING! Super chill Staff, Beautiful Atmosphere, Cool Music, and some really nice paintings from the Fine Arts Museum right across the Street. I’m always glad to come in and get a nice green tea smoothie on nice warm days and even hot coco w/ a brownie on Cold Days, too. Hands down the coolest café in the City.

Lovely place with friendly people. They currently dont have much seating at all and have gotten my order slightly wrong each time Ive been there, but its still been tasty, and theres seating nearby in the park.

Like the atmosphere, Americano was really good. Staff was monotone, reason for 4 stars. Not looking for a song and dance but kind eyes and a smile(even under the mask) goes a long way. Even a hey welcome to Monks or something. Person who took my order and the barista were just, well, there. Very robotic and impersonal.

Not a huge coffee fan myself. Their chai I was out of a package and not all that tasty. My companion, who is a coffee drinker, really enjoyed her coffee drink. The atmosphere was very relaxing. There were several college students in there studying and visiting.

I discovered Monks by accident when I was downtown a few years ago. Now, every time I come to Abilene I have to stop there for coffee when Im downtown, and to get beans for my morning coffee at home! They get my day started right!

Such a cute little coffee shop. It reminds me of one back home so that was nice. The random chairs is always enjoyable but slightly better taken care of ones would be preferred. However I appreciated one the guys behind the counter, he helped with my dairy concerns and the James Joyce he suggested was soooo good. Definitely will have to stop in for one again

My boyfriend and I came to Abilene from Virginia to visit a friend. We went to this coffee shop and it blew our minds away! The space is wonderful, the staff were friendly, and the chai tea latte and iced coffee we ordered were the best weve ever had! The next time we come into town, well definitely come back again!

I love the atmosphere and the great coffee. This place is 95% wheelchair accessible. The door is heavy and the mens room is small. Wheelchair users will have to use the womens room if its available.

Love this place. Out of all the coffee shops in town this is the best one by far. So many flavor options and multiple variety of drinks. AND it tastes perfect every time. I have never had a bad experience here. 100% recommend.

They have great coffee and rotating monthly drinks for those wanting to try different combinations. For non-coffee drinkers, they offer a wonderfully diverse selection of Italian sodas and teas. Service is friendly, and the atmosphere is as relaxing and comfortable as you could want from any coffee shop. I love bringing a book to relax, and I frequently run into people I know as well.

Really nice little cozy place to enjoy a good cup of coffee. My wife bought some coffee beans there and hasnt stopped eating them yet. Great customer service. And it wasnt too loud.

Arguably the best coffee in Abilene, with the main star being Monks espresso. Friendly staff and good selection, but be prepared to wait a little for your crafted beverage if they have a line. Just a word of caution, Monks does not do pour-overs, if thats your thing.

My husband and I stopped in because it was rainy and coffee sounded yummy! This coffee shop is very welcoming and comfortable.Well, I cant have Dairy so Im always so unsure of what to order. The gentleman working recommended a London fog after asking a few questions to see what I liked.I normally dont like earl grey tea but my goodness the London fog with soy is delicious! And the husband rates his peppermint mocha a 9, its not layered in gold and didnt pay for itself so it cant be a 10 but damn its a good cup of coffee.

Best coffee shop in town, hands down. Its right in the middle of downtown Abilene, and has a great local flair. A little hipster in their signage, but look at the clientele. It is a college area, so it is normally pretty busy. You may have to wait a minute to get your order in, but it is worth it.

I have lots of food allergies, and popped in to see if it was even possible to get a smoothie that I could drink. The girls who were working spent a good 10 minutes working with me figuring out something, and I was able to walk out with a sweet treat that wouldnt make me sick. I really appreciate it.

So we made some more friends and had some delicious coffee in an unexpectedly pleasant environment in the heart of Texas, (our general take on life is often at odds with what is seen as Texan) but the moment of enlightenment as to how good this place was or rather how unbelievably memorable this simple stop for coffee was to become, was when the actual person who roasted the coffee beans stopped by our table, on his way back to the roaster, to personally deliver a bag of beans that had been roasted that very morning. A 12 ounce bag of heirloom Ethiopan coffee beans from Key City Coffee has permanently dislodged the town of Abilene from my list of places I do not want to be on the road to. I enjoyed my visit. One issue, the bottomless coffee is kept way to high to be accessible to someone in a wheelchair. If they would place it lower I would be happy to give a 4 to 5 star rating.

They made my favorite specialty drink that other coffee shops claimed couldnt. Friendly baristas and chill atmosphere. Plus, the sign out front is generally amusing.
